How good is the antivibe on the 090 AV? I'm talking specifically about the ones with the Stihl "log and saw" logo. I guessing they are about 20 years old. They look to me like they are built about the same as the 070 and Contra Lightnings with minimal anti-vibe. Thank You, Mike

Mike- there is no anti-vibe on those old units, except for a limited edition rubber mounted 090 which was manufactured from 1975 to 1978, and those are scarce. I have one and it's going to sit in my garage for a while.

Jacob,

Are you sure they were only made from 75-78 ? I have a brochure for the 090Av and it is a 1971 brochure. I will post a pic.

Thanks,
Bill

So how bad is the vibration? Could you fit the anti-vibe from one of those old ones to an old non anti-vibe, if the parts were available? Mike

I have a newer model 090 AV and I doubt that the non-AV can vibrate much more than the one I have does. It amazing guys used to use this saw, its definitely a monster.

Rob

I always thought the old loop handle 090AV's were an ugly saw. Now if someone wanted to give me one I guess I could take it. The 090 that is shown in the background of my pic was supposed to be a good running saw. In the condition it was in when it arrived there was no possible way it could run. I am still looking for one of the newer 090's like Weatherby's.

hi mike my 090 av works fine ive used one like in your pics and i know what id prefer to hang on to all day jacob jay is right they were fairly scarce withe the factory av set up regards steve

Being a Stihl, you don't have to worry about anti-vibe--they don't need it. Remember, anti-vibe is only for running saws. :jester:

I am not sure why Stihl went back and forth on the AV but if anyone has either the original AV version or the later version that they want to part with let me know.

09av

Steve here... I have an 090 owners manual with an 090av on the cover. It was printed in West Germany, so that dates the manual at least pre 1990. The pic of the 090av in the manual has the newer style Stihl logo(post77- 78??)
