pulling ain't the problem...it will pull it. Stopping it might be a problem in an emergency...keep it reasonable and you won't have a problem. keep a close eye on the trans temps up hills and you should be fine. 20-25k on a cummins is no biggie. This ain't a powerjoke or a Duraslack motor....:hmm3grin2orange:

yup that's my setup... like someone already said... pulling a 25k load with a 12v cummins is not a big deal.... it's stopping that is a big deal.

this 12v is mated a 5sp with a new ceramic clutch rated to 500hp. a pita taking off... NO slip mean you've got to mate engine speed up and down to transmission or entire truck bucks badly.

running a Ultima brake controller, which uses a cable linked to brake pedal. it's a true proportional controller. when you step on brake, trailer brakes goes on. no inertia involved.

when pulling a load that's heavier than tow truck. it's absolutely essential braking comes on for both tow truck and trailer at the same time.

someone yank out in front of me .... had to slam on my brakes!!!
thanks goodness all brakes front and rear locked up at the same time and she shut down.

already purchased exhaust brakes, but have not installed yet.
still need to order 60lb exhaust springs to support brakes.

12v cummins just LOVES to be worked... could tell my 12v was really happy after this little workout.

did anyone notice the hydraulic ram was missing from the stinger on backhoe?

did my first major big equipment repair a few days ago .... rebuilt the hydraulic cylinder, then installed it back on the stinger. working with equipment that heavy, one has to be super careful not to get hurt!!

046, Is that your setup? How does it pull?

I noticed the missing stick ram. how were you able to get it curled in to chain it down with out the cylinder there? I used to work for an underground utitly contractor and we hauled back hoe's all the time. We never put our bucket on the ramps, always on the bever tail between them. Its more secure way to tie down becuase the ramps aren't solid enough. But i'm sure you have your reasons for doing it the way you did. I'm no state patrol to judge or tell you the "leagle" way of doing things. Just something to concider for the future.
