I'm just the opposite, Tony. I never saw a tree crew before, until I joined one. And I notice most people driving by hardly ever look up...

Me too, me too! In the small town I grew up in, there were no tree services. I never knew about the job as a profession until someone mentioned it to me toward the end of college.

Well, the only real problem is that I'm not a tree guy, so my threads aren't going to be as technically and educationally targeted as the ones started by you professionals.

But, the restrictions I was facing -- due to the diversity of opinions -- makes it the only reasonable approach for now.

How about if we suggested a couple of topics for publication each month. After a few weeks, we could select, through a poll of such which we think offers the best information for that month. Would this help you out and meet the restrictions?

Okay people, I came up with the concept, what has been a good topic of late for this? I am drawing a blank.

How important is it to educate your customers (or have them educated in advance) in tree biology as it relates to the work you will perform? Is this too scholastic? Feel free to make other suggestions.

The first post would read something like this: The comments in this thread are submitted by AS members for public information purposes and as such may be used in a future issue of Tree Service Magazine. Posting to the thread implies consent.

"Educating the customer in tree biology is often needed before good commercial tree care can be sold. It can be as simple as reaching your hand into a cavity, showing them how scar tissue forms, or pointing to a formula in a book. Please share some success stories."

Bob I think if we don't put a positive spin on this, it will turn into a moanfest about how dumb customers are. I could fill 38 pages on that myself  , but why bother?

Mr K you can delete the middle sentence if you want to.
