Well I stumbled onto thyis site last month looking for a piston since the base of mine cracked on my 2100. I have had this saw since day one and it has never given me any problems besides a tune up here and there. Last month when I was cutting some fire wood it just stop running, after bringing it to the repair shop I was alarmed when I was told the bottom of the piston cracked. I am looking for a piston, I tried to bid on one on ebay but was out bid so here I am asking for help.

I do have a 372 and a 044 but want to get this old monster back up to cut another day.

If you could email me if one comes up that would be wonderful.

Thank You.

You might want to check with rupedoggy on this site.He probably has more 2100 parts then anyone else.

2100 parts always are expensive on eBay because that saw is a favorite among racers.

The Rupleys (Rupedoggy and sawracr) are the masters of the 2100

2100s

I would thank you guys for recomending my brother and me. The 2100 is a very good saw but unfortunately the piston is the first thing to go. It has been my experience that crankshaft offset or crankcase alignment causes a lot of thrust problem to the 2100 piston. Many have gouges to the intake side from contact with the intake port. Because of that I do not have any used pistons that woud be satisfactory for use.
All saws seem to have a weak point of some kind but the 2100 will last longer than most and put out more power that other saws their size. They will sometimes crack by the front bar studs, crack at the intake manifold, or lose an ignition module but by the time this happened to the original owner he had earned plenty of money with the saw. It is interesting to note that the 2100 Husky and 056 Stihl series were put out at about the same era. It seems that the 2100 is still popular and frequently encountered. The 056 less so, even though I think more Stihls were made. Don't know that for a fact, but just guessing. Mike

Mike, I`m glad to see that you weighed in on this topic. I know that you have vast experience with this model and could more than likely share some good insight.

The 056 was heavier and slower than the 2100 of that era. I suspect thats why the 2100 is more popular now. IMO the 2100 was one of the saws that put Husqvarna on the map. More 056's were sold probably because the buyers had always run Stihls. A lot of 056's are still running today, which shows they were durable, but just not the hotrod that 2100's were

Icut with the 056 a little and they were decent dependable saws but were not near the saw the 2100s were. My biggest problem with the 056 was the air filter location. I mean if you were doing any kind serious cutting you'd have to clean that filter three four times a day if you wanted to make sure it was free of debris. But that has always been a problem with stihl. I remember when my dad bought his first 2100 I was a young teenager and he brought it right in the house and fired it up my mom about sh$t herself that was the coolest.... Wade

2100 parts

Hello Squeaky-clean,
The 2100-2101 husky is a great saw. Currently dominates the 6 cube class in racing circles. thats why no one wants to let loose of any of the parts . They also had a problem with the base breaking off of the barrel. the later 2101 barrel has a thicker base than the 2100 plus its nicosil plated rather than the chrome plated 2100. I would recommend buying a 2101 barrel and piston over a 2100 barrel and piston. I have some extra 2101 pistons. call me if you are interested.
