Any of you guys know if there is a bar that is .325 and 24" long for this little saw. Working on one for a older gentleman, bad back and age, he wants a longer bar for that reason but likes the .325 chain and wants to keep it. I have no dealings with the dolmar brand and the only shop close to me says it's not an option. He doesn't care what brand name the bar is. I don't know what fits what in this deal. Any help would be great.

well I can't avert getting older, but I'ma gonna try to not have a bad back myself. In thinning opps, the long bar really helps the reach for the small stems. And in a 50cc saw, you've got to think the .325 is best. That's why I was looking for what you mention, only for a 346. The pickins are very slim. Can't speak for your Dolmar, but I imagine you're in the same boat. GB Protop pn #075-373, w/ few if any non-chinese bars in stock. Thank MCW for that lead

Right. I considered the oil to the bar issue (and mentioned in a prior thread), and it being .058 might not help that either. Quite a few 346 3/8 x 24 have gone out to pre-commercial thinners here, I can ask the local shop if they've had any troubles. At first glance, seems a bad fit, but keep in mind, not using a lot of the bar, and its softwoods. Lodgepole and Juniper.

Your walking acres lopping the little stems low to the ground and falling the somewhat bigger stuff.

I think your best bet would be to get a Oregon Power Match in a small Husky mount. They don't make it in .325 but you should be able to change the tip out to a .325 tip.

eee. I was hoping for that option. Matched up some tips down at the shop, no luck. Not ruling it out, and asked about it elswhere here. Answers would be great. Though the dogged pursuit is only encouraged by the lack of answers. The effort/gain ratio for this problem is otherwise debateable.

:sgree2: That was going to be my suggestion.

An adjustable oiler might keep up with it. That is a lot of bar to keep oiled.

Thanks for all the help guys. I knew ya'll would come through. I tried to talk him into something else but you know the customer is ALWAYS right. He is just well pleased with the short bar set up and wants to go longer for the reasons stated. Troll I agree I think it's going to be a bit much, but what can I say he's footing the bill. Thanks again,
Joe

Calculate and speculate, catagorize, prostalize, summarize what seems like x+y, but I live by the pudding test. if it work it works, it don't it don't. 24" bars are working on these saw in the way they are being used, and that's a good thing..cuz heavin' it up and down steep hard scrabble terrain all day cutting all the way aint sweet in any ways, but it's way sweeter in this a ways.

just saying, If you aint doing it you can't say it don't work. and next week I'm back out there so you'all be getting less of my minutia.

respect to you all the same.

regards

Eric

Just diggin up a 13 year old thread here to thank everyone for the recommendations. I am doing the same thing on a husky 445 that was given to me. Given the lack of 24" .325 bar options I had considered doing a 24" duracut hardnose bar but I hear not having the sprocket robs some power which is the last thing I need. The plan is to order the 24" powercut bar in 3/8 .050 (240RNDK095) and swap the nose with the .325 sprocket (34775). The one thing I am doing different is getting a full skip chain to help make up for the underpowered saw: https://www.baileysonline.com/woodlandpro-20rcs-325-x-050-skiptooth-chainsaw-chain-wpp-20rcs.html
I think I need like 96 links for this but I'm not sure how to calculate. Let me know what you think. Obviously wont be burying the bar with this setup just trying to save my back.

just kidding, I went into the husky shop today to buy a primer bulb and I walked out with my saw converted to 3/8 rim and a 24" bar. Picking up some skiptooth chain and well see how it cuts.
