I am working on a 245 Homelite,it will stall on deaccleration, and has a erratic idle.I have cleaned and rebuilt carb, pressure tested engine, fuel filter is clean.Fuel line is good.I am beginning to wonder about the reeds.Any ideas. Thanks

245

Try the adjustment. IF it does not work, pressure test the carb. If the inlet needle does stay sealed, check the hi speed nozzle if it has one. When it does not shut off at low speed, the saw will stall at idle.

Are the high speed nozzles replaceable, the saw is not worth a new carb. Thanks

Shouldn't need a new carb...but on the 240 (ZAMA) carb, there is an unusual amount of wear on the throttle shaft.... soft metal???too heavy spring?? Whatever, the shaft is less than $3.

With the carb out, wiggle the shaft at the spring end.
Any sign of laterial wear means an air leak.
