272xp clutch rubbing clutch cover

Just took apart my dads old 272 to port the jug and found that I had a scored piston on the exhaust side and a very deep witness mark on my clutch cover. Deep As in the case is warped out and about to wear through and I’m not sure how it lasted 20+ years if it’s had this issue. What could be the route cause? I’m already going to order some new plastics to freshen the saw up aswell as a piston and some rings, is it possibly the clutch or the crank bearings? Thanks for any help attached are some pictures

Could it just be from 20 years of use on an averagely sloppy clutch?

An outside bar plate might keep it from rubbing. Did it have the inside plate on it?

I have that but it goes on the inside of the bar not the cover side

I see the lack of an oil feed galley now. I’ll see if I have any on some old broken huskys.

Missing bar plate and wear in the clutch drum and bearing probably was never greased.

Done for the night, but how can I adjust that. It has some slop in it, but nothing unusual.

The splines may not be lined up.
But put the cylinder back on before trying to remove the clutch!!

Isn’t there a splined plastic washer installed first. The spline on the drum might not be engaged into the oil pump splines?

My dad said it wasn’t oiling today. Could be.

The crankshaft threads should be closer to flush with the edge of the clutch I would think..

The oil pump gear area don't look right either. Looks like it is not in line.

I assume this is a crush washer. Supposed to be bent like that?

It should be flat, I think it keeps some of the trash from getting into the oil pump area.
