281xp/288xp

I have a 281xp and need a few parts. Are any of the 288xp parts interchangable? I need a top cover and maybe a few other pieces. Wondering if the chassis is the same or not. If not, are there any other saws that parts will work from on my 281xp? Thanks.

Yeah, that's a great site, I use it frequently. I looked at that before, and it looks like they are the same besides for the jugs, but I want to be sure. I don't want to get stuck with some parts I can't use.

Scotts, all of the 288-281 parts interchange. While you have that top cover off put a 288 jug and piston on it and have your muffler port matched for the 288 and you will think you have a brand new stump bustin' bruiser on your hands!

Wonderful, that's what I wanted to hear. Hey, if I came across the 288 slug and jug for the right price I'd jump on them. Pretty spendy from what I've seen though.
