I got this DR 28T Log Splitter last year, and have run about 2-3 cords through it. Yesterday, the ram suddently stopped, mid-stroke, after 1 hour of continuous use. Engine is fine, fluid is fine, no leaks.

I learned about the coupler online at work just now, and had my wife send me these pics from home. I think I lost the set screw and possibly the key? This couple should all be joined together when off, right?

I you agree with my diagnosis, I have 3 questions:
Where would I get the key size, and buy one? Setscrew?
When I re-assemble, should all three pieces be squeezed together, or should there be a small gap?

THANKS!!!

If you go to the DR power website and search parts by Wood Splitter, there are several models and schematics showing the parts. The one schematic I looked at had parts 28 as the set screw and 37 as the square key.
