Help -
I purchased a 260pro in December and I want to set it up to run 3/8 chain with a 16" .050 bar. (I posted about this last month and got helpful responses). That setup complements a 361 and 460 toolkit all running the same chain.
The dealer I'm working with has never done this conversion and they are a bit in the dark.
So I've come back here to try to get up to speed and assist the process.!!
First they ordered an entire clutch conversion kit ( part # 11210071041) as they were told by Stihl tech that the stock 260 clutch kit wouldn't be strong enough.
Is this correct??
I asked for just a 3/8 x 7 rim sprocket to do the conversion myself, telling them I'd just return the unused parts and they got me a 3/8 x 7 picco rim.
AGH.
IS there a 3/8 x 7 rim sprocket with a smaller dia. ID to fit on the stock clutch setup. The tech at Stihl is saying they have no part # for this.
Or is the only option to replace the clutch kit?? Does the shaft od change to a larger dia with the change.
I thought I saw photos posted here with a part # of 000-642-1231 for a small ID 3/8 x 7 rim but this service gent is telling me that part # fits on a large diameter shaft.
It's difficult being on the steep slope of this learning curve!!!

Thanks
John

Your getting fed a bunch of BS....

Every 260 sold out here has a 3/8 sprocket... and not picco...

Just buy the correct rim - 0000-642-1231 - about $6.

Maybe a East coast / West Coast thing, Lake .
My Dealer did not know nothing about the double dogs.

Just got off the phone with my dealer and it looks like he got a mispackaged part from Stihl it you can believe that. He's got a bag there, part # 0000-642-1231 and the rim in the bag has a large ID. Thing is these guys have never
done this conversion so they are shooting in the dark a bit.
I don't think they are the sharpest bunch either.
I said to look on the IPL and they didn't know what I was referring to. AGH>>>
HA!!
We'll try again, part # 0000-642-1231

Thanks
John
