Hey guys, after a brief search I have seen that some others are having oiler troubles with some of the newer stihls. What can I do about this?? I've disassembled and cleaned everything I can, but my chains are not oily enough, and get hot and dull quick.

On a side note, anything I can do inexpensively to get a little mroe power out of this saw?? I need to pick up a 20" bar and a few chains for this thing, should I stick with the stihl bars?? Or is there something better?? What about chains?? This saw has always kinda let me down, but my 029, and 044 both got stolen at the same time, and my dad bought this one for me....
thanks

Carlton or Oregon full chisel pro chains are both good. I don't get much first hand experience with Stihl chain since I their competitors brands. About all I get to do is throw away the safety chains that come new on them and replace them with Carlton Pro stuff.

Open up your muffler with an extra outlet for more power, and since winter is coming you can get away with the winter style air filter that available for that series of saw, the part number is 1127 120 1610 , the price is about $16.00.

If you want more oil check your pickup body in the oil tank, it may be plugged with fine trash. The 310 has an adjustable oiler as well, so make sure it is turned up. If that is still not enough performance, try using an oil pump from a 039/390. There are plenty of used ones available for cheap on e-bay.

How do I "open up" the muffler a little??
What is different about the winter style air filter??
I have the oiler all the way up, I guess I'll have to check the pickup.
thanks for the help guys.
