I developed a hydraulic fluid leak between the rear wheel and the brake unit. The parts manual shows a seal in the front and rear of that unit. There is no other evidence of fluid leaking from anywhere else, Vermeer and a local mechanic friend suggested I change the entire unit, but after checking out the price, $2700, I decided to check around to see if I could get my hands on a used one or someone who has changed the bearings and seals before. There are a lot of 352's around that have blown engines that might be parting out. If you have one, please let me know or if you have rebuild or just changed the seals, I would appreciate a shout out.

Hi Jim,

I hope you've been doing well.

If you can't locate a unit, I would suggest taking it to a hydraulic shop who might be able to rebuild it.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Dave, I'm doing well. How are you doing? I thought of bringing it to my hydraulic guy, but he is unfamiliar with this machine and when he gets thru figuring it out and getting all the parts back on, his hourly charge is pretty high. I probably will go that route eventually. But while waiting for the snow and weather to clear up for the season, I figured I look at the other options. I've already tried a couple of mechanics, including vermeers people, but they won't open the unit and will only replace it. I noticed an old post that someone rebuild his brake and seems to indicate that he could have just replaced the seals and it was a pretty simple job. I was hoping he would respond but he may not be on the board by now. But the Vermeer 352 has been plagued with engine problems and there are a lot of them that have been retired and thought I could get the whole unit that might be sitting in the back yard of some poor soul. But if nothing comes of it, I will get the seals and take apart the broken one and see if I can get it back together. Can't break it anymore than broken. Thanks brother
