36 pro or ms 361

Is their a big difference between the older 36's when compared to the newer ms 361??

I have been toying with the idea of rebuilding a 36 from different part saws, like I have done with other saws, or is it smarter to just buy a new ms 361 and have a better saw.

I haven't had much experience with Sthil's 3 series, and just need a little info from those who have used them.

I can't give you any input based upon experience, but I was asking the same question as you recently. What I came up with was that the MS361 is a much better unit, with porting and cylinder technology and anti-vibe improvements alone being the deciding factors in its favor.

The 361 is a better saw all the way around, it to me right now is one of stihl's better saws to run but you need to do a muffler mod on it cause the stock muffler is really hurting what the saw has under the hood for power
