I checked with a woman other than my wife. Yes 2 inches matters a lot. I'm ditching my full wrap for a regular handle.

Oldsaw, you notice we made the same comment and Andy is avoiding us. :ices_rofl:

Nope, just you!

Actually, I'm a bit busy with the no power situation to really track the posts, and in any case, the tape measure is in the unlighted garage. My sig line sums it up.

and.. drum rollllllllllll.... here it is...

The full wrap kit in place...

I don't get it........

Yeah, it looks neat and all, and it does look like it provides a bit more protection for the saw, but otherwise I really don't see where it's worth the money or the extra hassle when you need to remove the clutch cover. Maybe it's cause I'm not a west-coaster, but I just don't get it.....................

There is no hassle removing the clutch cover - undo the nuts and off it comes... Sure , use the short wrench, but there is plenty of room.

Sure is nice falling/bucking - or working in tight corners with only the "wrong" escape path...

It just looks like in that first pic that the bar is right in front of the rear nut, blocking access to it with the regular scrench. So you have to carry another tool to get the cover off in the field? I still don't see the benefit versus the cost.....

BTW Andy, thanks for sending me that little part for my 041AV! Now I don't have to worry about the carb nuts working loose again.

I can fit a regular scrench under all of my saws' wraps, which is all of them. The shortie scrench fits like a charm. No need to carry another tool, just carry the shortie. And yeah, the cover just comes right off. Sometimes on a true full wrap, like on an 056, you can wrestle with it a bit, but on the 3/4 wraps like we have here, it's not even a factor.

And another benefit is pestering my friend SawTroll talking about how cool full wraps are!!   ;)

So is this 361 wrap in the pics a full or 3/4? I have a full wrap on my 372 and don't like it, but the one on that 361 that Jeff posted looks a lot more user friendly. Is that an aftermarket handle? Seems there is more clearance with that one than the one Lake posted

Yeah Steve, these are 3/4 wrap. But they're all Stihl offers for a "full wrap." Back in the day, they had a full wrap that went all the way around, like on Husky's. No more. Yes, that's an aftermarket handlebar on mine. USA Handlebars from Madsen's. Works very well, very high quality.

One thing of note is that the Stihl "full wrap" kit has an upgraded top AV spring - stronger, to account for the different forces on the saw when flipped over. The spring buffer isn't expensive - I don't know if they fit the aftermarket bars though. Not much price advantage (now) in the aftermarket anyhow.

I supect that Stihl will eventually offer the 361 full wrap as a production model, at least for this region...

Jeff, aka Fishhuntcutwood had published some pictures of wrap usage in a prior thread - maybe he can show them again and expain.

Definitely not "kool" factor... any time you have to use a saw clutch-side up, you can't easily or safely unless you have a wrap handle. My usual reasons are steep slopes, obstructed cutting from the "normal side" (rock wall, multi-truck trees), or simply no good escape path if cutting normally...

Jeff will explain better..
