Under the circumstances you guys cut, I can see where being able to hold the saw from the clutch side could be an advantage sometimes. However I can't recall a time that I've ever been in a situation where I would have needed to do that. We just don't run into that sort of thing around here.
As far as big dogs being good, I fully agree with you there. Heck, even my MS250 got "oversize" dogs before it ever left the dealer!

HA! I'm from your neck of the woods, no kidding you don't have that sort of thing. For those of you who've never been to N. IN, it's as flat as the computer monitor you're looking at right now!

It would be nice to have a wraphandle like that on my 372xpg, it is only stupid that it does not, damn those husky designers

HA! Sorry. Talking about the wrap portion. Mine just kinda goes straight down, the factory version "leans" forward a bit.

If you were closer, I would swap you handles....lol

I don't like the husky design for the 372 wrap handle. The chain adjuster screw is directly behind the handle bar...You have to get at it on an angle....

And the back bar nut is a real pain even with the shortest wrench....

My 371 has a wrap handle, of course, but it has the old style chain adjuster. If you are used to a wrap handle, it feels wrong when you don't have one, it limits your ability to work comfortably and perhaps safely. Now Indiana John, how about when you are limbing a log, can you not see a wrap making your job faster and easier?

Have been looking for a 3/4 wrap bar that will fit a 036 I'm currently building up . It will be used as a limbing saw for use on the ground . Any idea if the USA bar for the 361 will work ? Or for that matter the stihl one.

I,ve only seen two 036 with 3/4 wraps. One was here & the other was on e-bay however no mention weather they were modifyed to fit.

I spent a whole day working on a step side hill cutting some scrub trees with my stock 361. I got it done with a half wrap, but it wasn't pleasant nor was it particularly safe. I did/do have a 441 full wrap but it was a little overkill for the trees I was attacking.

A few days later that post popped up about ebay having a few 3/4 wraps available and I went to that guys ebay store and bought the 3/4 handle, side cover, rubber deflector, and dawgs. No regrets.

Now to answer the side cover question. Yes, the full size side cover for my 361 is the exact same one as what came on my 441. Dawgs are smaller.

OK Pulled off the 3/4 wrap handle otherwise known as a factory style wrap from my 044 to see how things would line up against mounting to a 036. Both hole spacing & angles for proper mating look good to a T but about 3/4 to 1 " of bar would have to be cut out removed after the 90 degree bend at bottom front rewelded back togather due to the 044 stands a tad bit taller. Its looks totaly massive maybe overkill. A preliminary check of the chain brake also looks to be a go. Am waiting for crank bearing & will look into it further once its back togather.

So now I'm left with making a choice between modifying either the factory stihl or getting the usa bar. Which one do you all like better ?:

The benefits on bigger/feller saws is unquestioned, but I've always wondered how it'd be to have a smaller/limber saw with a wrap handle. Seems like it would be the cat's azz for speedy and efficient ops. I've got a 2100 w/wrap but wonder how a 50-60cc saw would be with one for this.

Andy, That price is for a add on kit correct? Is a 361 wrap model MSRP plus that or do you get a bit of a break if ordered new as a wrap model?

You can't order it new as a wrap... Only interst is in the PNW, and they won't create a SKU for just us.. Sucks. but...

You can easily sell the stock covers and handles though...

Welcome to the full wrap club! This is where all the cool kids hang out.

Fish,

Good recovery. Never let it be said that Lake's got two inches on you.. :censored: Mine leans forward a bit too. But then I've seen it go straight down.... :(

Lake ain't got nothin on me!

Well, actually maybe more knowledge, a great shop, awesome house, sweet wife....maybe he does have something on me.

Yeah I think it would be good. My old Mac 610 had a full wrap & kind of liked it when you made a move could turn it on it side seemed to balance out better. Damn that saw was heavy for its size.Performed a muffler mod to it just before I sold it & it really had good power for a saw as old as it was after richin it up a tad.
