Ralph, next time I am down, have your 372 ready to run. Maybe i will figure something out that you overlooked on its pos running status.

it was ready last time, I was just keeping it clean because payment for it was on its way. I did do a comp test, after 4 months of running klotz at 40:1, it was still at @125psi. I have since changed to the junky stihl oil to increase wear, and it getting better, power is up, and compression is as well. but it's only been run on dino for about 2 tanks now.
Hafta swear by the klotz synthetic. new saw with virtually no wear, not even enough to seat in the rings, in @ 4 months of run time. when it stops getting better, I will revert to klotz, and by all indications, it will last forever.

edit, never a problem Mr Troll. I was playing with ya anyways. check yer pm!!

125 sounds low. Anyone know what the spec for compression is?
BTW when I had a 361 it would not hang with my stock 372 in 12-15"wood.
M stock 372 is setup with a 8 pin, 20'' bar and 72LG chain.

I can see where the Dolmar 5100S "may" outcut the Husky 372 in wood up to 16 inches as it runs 1,000 RPMS faster. As it is said, there is no replacement for displacement. Throw a 20 inch B & C on both and cut a 20 inch round of oak and see which comes out ahead. Maybe someone with both saws could make a video and post it? Would be very interesting to see.

yeah, I was supprised to, after all the good feedback on this site about 372xp's.
nope, it runs like it should, only after you get into wood over 18" dia, does the husky pull ahead, ever so slightly.
come on down, I'll let you run them both, and you can see that I'm not telling stories.

Ralph please tell me you are just kidding. Also I understand you got that saw up for sale. I think you should sell it to me beings its almost new and all, you know I don't care for scratched up saws. Sawtroll is holding me to a 372 and since yours is like new and all maybe we can cut a deal, hmmmmmmm. I'll pm you right now.

See Sawtroll I'm a man of my word.

Ralph, I had a wore out 330 that had 120psi, something isn't right with a new 372 having 125psi. I will bring my gauge too, if you want me too. I did here to break them in with dino oil, but dont know how true that is. You might get more feedback on that.
That why you just showed me that shiney 372 power head only.

IN 16'' harwood my moneys on the 372, given that it is set up for such sized wood.

Will the 372xp (stock) do better with an 8-pin than a 7-pin with a 20" bar, in 16-18" birch.....

..and how about a 16" bar in smaller wood (guess that is a "no-brainer").....

I have a 372 and a 5100 both great saws but 372 smokes it in the big stuff, and it should, but I always reach for the 5100 unless an 18'' wont get the job done. Before I adjusted the carb on the 372 it ran awfully rich out of the box, then once I leaned it a bit she really came to life.By the way Freakinstang,I see that picture ia at Norwalk.I will have to look for ya this summer,I have a chevelle that makes it up there once in a while.

My 5 yr old 350 has 135 psi. It really does sound like the rings may not have seated.

that was my thinking to. after a few tanks by the seat of the pants it feels stronger. never used the decomp before, now I almost have to. we'll see how it goes.

I agree. Ralph something is wrong with your 372...The 5100 is one bad saw, but it ain't that bad....

your the 2nd one that recognized Norwalk...lol. Hopefully will have the convertible done this summer. I haven't been to a track in two years...Starting to feel neglected. But you know how those fords are....

If your birch is like ours 8 pin all the way. Birch cuts like a hot knife through butter.

Thanks, I suspected that - will put a 8-pin on it as soon as it is run in properly.

Btw the hardness of our birches vary quite a bit with where and how fast they have grown, but none are really hard.......
