From the article:

Mr Nick Sowden, Vice-President, Asia Pacific Purchasing, AB Electrolux, said, "India fits in well with Electrolux's growth strategy, since it has a strong supplier base which is globally recognised for its superior quality and performance benchmarks. India is certain to play a strategic role in the company's growth plans for the Asia Pacific region."

Now I'll translate that:

"Electrolux has found that the extremely high standard of living demanded by our Swedish employees is costing us a fortune. If we have our parts production sourced out to India at 1/100th of the cost, our corporation will make huge profits."

India is a brain-bank. Their people are very intelligent and hard working. Many high tech & computer experts there. But their machine work, to my eyes, is rough at best. If the machining went to Taiwan, I'd feel better.

I guess our genuine Swedish-built saws will go up in value now.

I used to work alot with drawing stainless steel rod made in India by Viraj. Absolute crap compared to the stuff we got from Korea. At least the Korean rod payed off the machines without snagging every ten minutes. And it didn't break going thru the dies as often, either.

Looks like I'll be keeping my older Husky's for awhile.

Ever tried to use files made in India??? You now have to look carefully at where things are made since they all have American sounding names. I know for a fact that files made in China, Malaysia, India and some other developing countries are worse than a dull USA made file.

Flew back on a plane aside of Xxxxxx Xxxxxx who is a well respected big wheel in EMAB. They have been making contacts in China for easily fabricated steel, and cast parts due to lower costs.

Was down in Georgia sometime ago, listened to a guy who has extensive Korean, Taiwan, and China contacts tell me if a component was made in China to the exact specifications, and material as from Taiwan, it's cost is 1/10 th.
From the USA it's almost 1/100 th.

Call tell you that I seen some what I would call major carb problems with Mexican made carbs. Simply swapping Japanese made carbs, solved the problem. I'm told that the cost was only $1 US dollar difference, but the unamed saw company saves almost $20,000 a year.

Personally try to by USA, German, or Japan made goods.
Willing to pay the higer price for less what I call (related to body parts) Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Preperation H, and Dr Scholls problems.
