Hi, I currently own a MS170, but I have been wanting something bigger. I picked up a Farmertec 372XP kit on sale.

I have been wanting to learn more about chainsaws and I am enjoying it so far.

But I am confused about the carb hookup.

The gas tank has two hoses coming out of it. Now my understanding is that you would normally see that on a setup with a primer bulb.

I have attached a photo... I am just wondering what to do... in particular what should I do with the extra hose coming out of the tank.

Sorry for the simple question.

If the line on the right in your, actually routed through to the crankcase, it would be the impulse line. The pressure changes in the crankcase are what actuates the fuel pump in the carb.

I've never had access to a 372, so hopefully someone else can confirm. Best of luck.
I do see what looks like a nipple hiding under the metal clamp right next to the cylinder. That is probably for the impulse line.

POGuy is correct, the impulse line connects the nipple on the crankcase to the fitting on the "front" of the carburetor, see Redneck's photo for clarification and how the line passes through the grommet beside the intake boot. Click on the photo to enlarge it.

The longer line to the right should be the fuel line coming from the tank and connects to the other barb on the saw.

The shorter line on the left is the fuel tank vent, see the vent fitting in Redneck's photo.

It would be a good idea to replace the lines that came with you kit using a higher quality material, otherwise you will have to tear it all apart again after a few months to replace them anyway. I had an orange clone saw for a while and used it pretty hard, I had to replace the throttle cable and the fuel/vent/impulse lines rather early on. Since I don't rely on running a chainsaw to make a living, the Holzforma was not a bad saw for my use.

I bought a second (blue) one after giving the orange one away and I am not sure it will measure up to the orange one in terms of reliability out of the box. It seems to have some issue staying running after it warms up and makes a few cuts.

FYI the 372/clones do not use a primer/purge bulb...

...and welcome to the forum.

Mark

As others have already written: one is the impulse hose, the other is the fuel hose. If you get stuck, I can take a photo for you, my 371 XP is currently half assembled in the basement.
On the pic B is fuel, C is Impulse.
