Have a 3 year old Husky 372xp. Today my on off switch quit working. It does not kill the saw in the "off" position. Saw still starts and it appears to be "plugged" in but does not seem to have a function after today.

Any ideas? Thanks--Yellow Dog

I'd check the wire at the other end to confirm its not disconnected or somewhere. possibly a bad switch, but I doubt that, I've heard very little to that effect.

Hello Yellow
I'm definately no saw tech, but the switch should be grounded to the coil &
Engine block somewhere. check for break in wire or maybe it viberated
loose from coil. Here's a drawnig (bad one) but It'll give you an idea of how
to check. :dizzy:

This is actually a pretty common problem on Husky saws. I personally have seen it on a 371 and a 394, and know others who have had the same problem. If the wire isn't disconnected or bare, and the switch isn't full of crap, then the switch has likely kicked it and will need to be replaced. Check the wire first as it is the cheapest and then try cleaning the switch as best as possible. If that fails, you may have to replace the switch.

update:
the wire had come out of it's "groove" on the cover over the flywheel. It was shredded! I ran a new wire but didn't have solder so I just rethreaded it back to the switch on the one in, connected it with a crimp on the other and now it works fine. I don't know how it came out of the little wire groove but it sure looked like copper hair inside the fins of the flywheel..

thanks for the help!
