Another factor to consider is competition. Not competition between dealers like myself and Tony vs. Baileys, but competition between Husky USA and independent distributors out west who buy direct from Sweden. Husky USA may simply be choosing not to warranty saws that they did not sell. Gosh, that has a familiar ring to it, doesn't it? (Sorry, couldn't resist:laugh: )
...

How about asking the parent company in Sweden?

I know nothing about the facts... but I suspect it's just like with pro-cameras. They get bought outside the USA in bulk, then resold outside the normal distribution system. However, many of the really big stores thumb their nose at Nikon, Canon etc and sell both - Gray and "USA"... Gray is cheaper, but you only get an "international" or "in store warranty".

Cameras don't need EPA certification though..

OK, I just got my new 372XPW (75cc version) out of the box. Here are the weights that I reported in another thread;

Powerhead only without handle or felling spikes=13.1 lbs.
Powerhead with half-wrap handle=13.8 lbs.
Powerhead with half-wrap and felling spikes=14.4 lbs.

Seems like a full pound over advertised! What do you think?

The warranty card says to register the product at the usa.husqvarna.com site, how does this go with the dealer warranty refusal? Something is fishy here.

Spike 60, did you get any feedback from your rep.?

I didn't remove the engine cover but you can read 'MAHLE' cast into the cylinder just below the compression release. Is this the good stuff?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hi Deerskin;

Kind of a strange week because all of the Husky reps were down in Orlando for a national sales meeting, and mostly out of touch. I did not get a reply to my E-mail. I'm sure that my guy will be 100% sure of what he says before he says anything. If I hear anything, I'll be sure to share it.

I did make another call to a contact that I have in the company. He said that a Husky is a Husky and that the warranty should be no problem. But he had never heard of the 75cc 372 and shares my belief that should the cylinder be toasted, the parts aren't available here in the east. That saw is definately only available through the distributor that handles the west coast, and they are the only independent distributor that remains. You could always get the parts from where you got the saw, as Baileys has a pretty good rep with the members, and I'm sure that they won't let you down.

But as for the rest of the saw, as long as it is registered with Husky USA, there should be no problem with the warranty, although if you are modding it, that's another story.

And considering how few warranties I've seen over the years with the 372, we're probably all wasting a lot of energy worrying about this. But the bottom line is that at least we all know that these saws are indeed somewhat unique models, and where they are and are not available, and why.

I'd say just go ahead and enjoy it!
