Anyone else had a problem with the air filter coming loose on a 441? In all my wood cutting life I have never had that problem. Of course all the filter nuts on my 440’s were visible.
I don’t know how long it’s been loose, but I’ve cut 10-15 cords easy since it was installed. Sucker was filthy inside. Like give you a pain in your stomach. I figured it was time for a clean filter so I was just gonna swap for clean when servicing it this morning and found the mess. The filter was pretty clean so I’m assuming it’s at a **** load of wood.

How long you recogn it will live? It’s a mmws 441 that’s probably got 80-100 cords on it plus the “light use” by the PO. It runs ok, besides dying now and then when it’s idling, but it’s done that since I bought it.

I would clean carb and what you can and run it. What’s the worst that can happen? If it’s full of junk damage is done. Maybe it just came loose recently. I would clean it and run it till I had issues then rebuild and see how bad it really was. Just me though.
