Has anyone Purchased or sold any of these Stihl ms460 Rescue Saws? What do they retail for? They Look lnteresting.

Firedepartment bought 3, not sure what they cost.. I bought their old 044s off my boss when they traded them..

David- The rescue saw is basically a 460 with a 28" bar and carbide chain, and a special bar gaurd with depth stop for cutting through roofs/building materials, etc. In place of the inside dawg is an aluminum runner much like what you put on your saw for an Alaskan Sawmill. Stihl's retail list price on the rescue saw is an astonishing $1189.00. You'd do a lot better to buy the individual parts off the internet and put the saw together yourself, for around $8-850.

I like the cool recoil grip and the tool holder, I'm gonna see what they cost as replacement parts.

The MS 460 Rescue saw I have sitting on my shelf for demonstration has a 20" bar with carbide chain.....no depth guard....and lists for 999.95

Are they offering 2 different saws in different markets? Where are you from Jacob? Interesting to see if they are doing this differently.

Joey-

That was the price I was quoted by a local reputable Stihl/Husqvarna dealership here in Southern Oregon. This depth guard arrangement is adjustable out to 16" or so, so that only a few inches of your bar sticks out. 28" bar is max that was available for the package.

The real unique rescue saw is the Echo. It has the bar that is pointed down at about a 20-30° angle. We had one at the fire dept that I was a member of. It was real heavy. Heavier it seemed than the Jonsy and Husky (372xp) saws we used at training.

One neat feature on the Jonsy saw and this may be a standard fearture of all of them is that it had an always on ignition which you flipped the spring loaded switch over to kill. One less thing to remember when you are in a hurry to get the heat / smoke out of the building.

We usually grabbed our Partner diamond tipped saw though most of the time for ventilation as it didn't care what is was cutting.
