Just want to confirm this is a 70cc saw. Found an old post that says the 4-10, 5-10, 6-10, and 7-10 were all 70cc saws. When I look online it shows 54cc. But I know said site has some incorrect numbers. Thanks

4-10, 5-10, 6-10, and 7-10 are all 70 cc. 4-10 is the only 70 cc saw in the lineup that does not have any form of compression release.

Mike Acres sight has a few errors throughout the McCulloch pages. The information from McCulloch is generally accurate although they also had some misinformation in some documents like the piston and rings documents.

From the McCulloch 10 Series shop manual:

The saw has a velocity stack on it, I'm looking for the original style cover that bolts down with the carb so I can run the original air filter cover. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this part? I found a sp81 walbro carb that has the cover with it any chance that will fit the 5-10? Then I have a spare carb for the sp81 and the missing cover.

The SP60/70/80/81 saws have a different style cover than the 5-10 models.

The 5-10 looks like this.

The SP models look like this.

The brackets are also different, the one on the 5-10 is "open" on the cube type carburetor and integral to the bullfrog carburetor.

The bracket for the SP and other later saws incorporates a spit back shield.

Let me know if you can't find parts elsewhere, I should have everything available.

Why not run a clamp on filter on the velocity stack probably easier then finding NOS air filters. I have to make an elbow but that’s what I will be doing to my pioneer 1100 build when I’m done but I plan on working that saw.

Please post of photo of your current set up so I can try to find the correct parts. There were a couple different versions of that fast back air filter cover.

Thanks for the help. Your full wraps are top notch by the way! If you happen to have some old 640 parts let me know. I have a project I'm looking for some parts for.
