Trying to decide which size to go with. I use 1/2" Arbormaster rope for climbing and I weigh 225lbs naked. I use the VT or distel knot.

I would go with the 3/8 for half inch rope. I use 5/16(8mm) but I climb on 7/16" blaze rope. Smaller diameters bite harder on larger diameter ropes especially under heavy load, so I think a guy of your size would benefit from the 3/8".

I like 10mm-3/8ths. cord for the Distel on 1/2in. rope. Distel seems to really lock up with smaller cord on standard sized climb line IMO. I am running Bee-Line now and it is ok, but plain old yacht braids like Sta-Set are awesome and I a going back to them when this hunk of Bee-Line is used up.
