1/2 chain is not really that fast of a chain, 3/8 will out cut it hands down. the reason most of the sthil guy's run it on the big motor's is because they are alittle scared of the small 3/8 breaking,
but there was and older guy that used 3/8 on his 250 hotsaw and he won alot of races with it.

Yeah, his name was Villenue from back east some where. His 3/8's chains were fast.

I have seen a couple of 250's with 3/8 chain on them and they cut well but with the chain speed of those BIG gears they break chains plus the bars are real deep and make it harder to make 3 cuts with but at least you can get chain
