id like to know somethin about this saw.
it cranks good, but with a semichisel chain that need gauges droped,as it just scratches the wood. i played with the carb and cleaned the filter, while i as playin with it. cranks first pull every time. needs to, too as it dont have decompression. its not mine but think i can get it. oh one more thing ,it has the bow bar . any helpful info would be appreciated. whats a fair market price for it.thanks again. tm
my son got a thing for echos and id like to surprise him. probably put standard bar on before i give it to him.aint interested in doing something that gets my son killed. but he do love echos. thanks again.

Hi Tony, the 650EVL was introduced around 1981. It has a decent power to weight ratio and revs a little higher than other Echos of that generation if memory serves me. Nobody I knew had a tach then and my ear doesn`t remember, LOL. Very good saw from that era that sold for around $400 new. What is it worth now? Unfortunately I`m going to say not too much, $75 - $100 IMO if in good running condition since it is not a highly sought after model and it lacks modern suspension and a chainbrake if I recall correctly. Getting parts for an older Echo may also be dicey. You will have to use your own judgement.

thanks russ. u described the saw rite on the money. i went ahead an got it. put that old 036 bar on with one o the lg chains u sent. its cuts about on par with the 036 ,but of coure weighs more. which aint necessarily bad . according to what im doin. cant use it much tho as the sprocket is worn and dont want to ruin the chain. aint hurt as i talked him dn from 75 to 60.
truthfully its pretty dang good 65cc saw
or seems to be.new bar and sprocket andits on par with saws in that class.
so much depends on the chain an bar being rite.wish ithad chain break tho ,if im givin it to wayne.[son]

For $60 you did real well. I think that saw was available until at least 1987 when I bought a 550EVL($450). There's a 610 on ebay right now up to $180.

Hi Tony, sounds like you got a great deal. If she`s running strong it should last a good long time. The older Echos are bulletproof, I don`t have any experience with the new ones except my ppt-260. The 650 was very popular and has a well deserved reputation for durability. Only thing I can recommend aside form the obvious of the sprocket is check the fuel lines, some of them turned to jelly. They are available as far as I know.
