I ordered a new bar and chain from Baileys for my 346XP.
I went with a 16 inch x .058 guage PowerMatch bar and 325 34LG chain with 66 links.

The chain that was sent to me was one with 68 links. I called Baileys and they said they would send me a 8 tooth rim sprocket to replace the 7 tooth that came on the saw.

What will happen if I used the 68 links with the 7 tooth rim sprocket?

I am thinking of taking the chain in and having 2 links removed.

Any advice would be appricated

I agree with Brian. I run 8 tooth rims on my 346s with 66dl chains.

This isn`t the first report I`ve heard of Bailey`s messing up and then trying to cover their tracks instead of making things right. Too bad since they were great not too long ago.

I didn't mention the fact that they sent me a .050" guage instead of the .058 that I had ordered.
To their credit, they did send me a new one very promptly

Hi Tony,

Under the right conditions, < 16", the 8 tooth is faster. Over that range and the 346 needs the 7 tooth.

Surprisingly both of my ported 346s pull and 8 tooth better than my woods modded ms260. I`ve also found that with the 260 and a brand new 67dl chain, you need to remove the rim, put the chain around the bar and rim and reinstall as an assembly. It cracks me up when I hear anyone complain about putting a chain on a 346. Just drop it down behind the clutch, string it around the bar, and tension.

The only complaint I have on the 346 as far as chain installation goes is the lame adjustment stud combination!
