Thanks BobL,
Newbies learn from the mistakes and trials of the wise. I am yet to become wise, but i am learning.
I'm trying to organise a "come and have a go" day through my local Husqy shop, the biggest hurdle at the moment is the shire!!
If i can persuade them to allow it would come along and share some knowledge? There are three experienced climber/fellers, a safety trainer and industry reps that may give some time.
A sort of field day here in Perth.
Let us know when that's happening. Love to get there.

Maybe start a dedicated thread when it materializes

I suspect mine can suck a cricket ball through a garden hose now ;)

It always got clogged quickly, but more power requires more air in, so filter chokes the saw quicker. Not sure exactly what you mean by taking the cover out of the question.

My 3120 was always a pretty gutless beast for it size and ran rich as heck. Here is why

Read the size on the fixed jet, needed to port the intake, exhaust and remodel the muffler and it still sits at 11-11.5 full throttle. Ordered a replacement jet according to factory specs to ream out (1.16mm to 1.18mm) before pulling the carb apart but as you can see from the pic it was unnecessary.
If you remove the air filter cover it has a white plastic or an aluminium cover inside it. Screw the retaining knob out of both, leave the orange cover in the tool box and refit the inner plate back onto air filter. All the air you need is now coming at a gentle pace from the atmosphere and not being forced through a hole in the chassis along with some supercharged debris. As for re jetting the carb? Not always necessary, most 3120's are too rich down low and a simple muffler mod(to reduce heat build up) and a re tune is all they need.
11-11.5k out of a 3120 is fantastic! Most sit around the 10.9k mark and they cut really well. I have a 1.25 jet going in an older 3120 soon I'll post the results.

It's a work in progress and has been for about 18 months. Welshpool would be ideal as there is vacant land next door.
Great That's only 5 minutes away :)

Otherwise I can ask about a block in Martin/gosnells.
What sort of wood to use, whatever native you can get delivered for free or something especially hard and dry

Cheers for the explanation, have tried that. Doesn't make a huge difference for what I have been milling lately (using a logosol farmers m8 running full comp .325 chain) But it is an improvement, this is just the price I pay for milling the most beautiful timber in w.a. ;) (sheoak)

My 3120 was pulling low 9000's (with stock muffler) before I modded it. My solo 690 cut better upto a 42" bar than it period.

Was going to ream the jet out from factory spec simply to be paranoid, just to act as a rev limiter. Wasn't necessary though as I said.

I am Very happy with the saw now, enjoying this hobby business now more than ever in the last 15 years :)

You metro boys mind if a country cousin comes up for your demo day?

Always room for anyone interested. Hoping to get this rodeo on for late May next year when it cools off a bit.

Gosnells/Martin would be ok if need be. Wood is not much of an issue, plenty of large stumps and trunks in need of re homing.

Ok now we're waiting on main roads for approval.
Not holding my breath!

Jimbo209, how is the white gum going?
Stagnant. :( BUT I just got some 840mm blue/orange pallet racking for the shed and I will be putting slabs on some of it

Orange rails are 2591mm and about 2 tonne capacity :)

Most of my stuff will now be 2500mm, which by a +50mm slab is hefty

Looks Great.
Most of my slabs are 3200 x 65mm, pain in the butt to handle! Let us know the rails go with slab weight on them.
