Here is a look at a Washington Pro Saws stage II conversion after 1.5 MBF of Timer having been cut with it. This Particular saw is a Husqvarna 385XP. It was built for a Timber comapany in New York. Last week the customer called me up to tell me that the saw would not run on it's side. I had him send me the saw because it had a vacume leak.

The following repairs will be done:
New rings
Tighten the intake block (vacume leak)
Clean all carbon and wash saw
New fuel filter

Charge to the customer: $10 for rings, $6 for filter and return shipping.
IF this had been a warrenty issue then we would have taken care of everything including shipping both ways.

It looks like modifieds hold up quite well. BTW the customer loved this saw so much that he ordered another one.

i cut timber for a living, and i'd be impressed with a saw that would take my abuse for 8 months and still look like that!!! looks like a fine job to me. as soon as i can free up my 066 for a bit im gonna have it modded. Good work!!!

The title says 1.5 mbf, but the post says 1.8mbf.

Mule, the .3 discrepency must have been volume loss thru sawdust, barberchair, what the saw ate, what the faller ate, shrinkage and loss because the log scaler wasn't very generous.
So 1.8 was the gross and 1.5 was the actual.:D
That would be my guess. They say a log buyer is like a good log, it's got no heart.
BTW Dean, good job.

Dean, I don't recall ever running one stock, but modified they are unreal.
They seem to be just a bigger 372 with much the same porting. I have four of them now and several parts as well. One I have never started.
I don't have a single complaint about them.
I have heard they came with different sized carbs, are you aware of this?
Mine have all the same sized carb, but would try a bigger one if it would fit.

Even though I believe a good 066 with dual port muffler will keep up with the modded 385, the 385 is much easier to handle and feels right, but this may just be a matter of opinion. It is lighter though, but who cares, you're resting when it's in the wood.
Here's my best 385 picture with 24" 1.3mm bar.

I thought the 385 and the 066 were the sme in weight. I do know that the anti-vibes in the Husqy are well worth their weight in gold at the end of a days cutting

You're probably right about the weight, but the 385 just seems to suit me better than the 066, so I guess I just assumed it was lighter by virtue of that.
Just speaking up for Stihl for a moment, the resale of a used Stihl is generaly higher than the resale of a used Husky. Huskies are a one man saw, while Stihl I believe will endure incredible abuse. I mean look at the 038 and the 028 not to mention the 090.. Those 044's have gotta be the best all around saw ever made after all the cards have been dealt.

what is MBF? million board feet:jester:
Roundwood is measured severel different way. Sometimes by Cubic Metres, sometimes by cords etc., but 1MBF means one thousand board ft. It gets further complicated by the scale which is used to measure the logs. The fairest is probably the International Rule, however Doyle and Schriebner Rules are also used and many variations thereof.
Go figure.

I was fixin' to say that is one heck of a saw, 1.5 million board feet muhahahahha. That must mean a Stihl can go 2.5 with no problems:eek:

Wow!

John,
there's an old thread on porting the 385's where you and the simonizer discuss where to move the ports to, are those numbers what you currently use on all of your saws???? do you leave the ignition timing alone and just mod the muffler and adjust the carb as described????

Curious minds want to know!!!!!

im almost positivethat mbf is million board feet. if not that means this saw only cut 1500 ft.(ive cut trees with more footage in it than that)
