....what do you guys think? Good deal or no? 88 f350 dually with the 7.3L diesel, 5spd, dump bed, equipment box, western 8ft plow,160 and change on the meter. $5,000? Only stated problem is the anti lock brake light is on in the dash panel.

Any known issues I should be looking for?

Around here, that would be a $3500.00 truck, tops, if it has no rust. Of course, that would be without the plow. That engine is great, so you should be ok there. However, I am not sure I would pay that much for that old of a truck. Remember, it is over 20 years old now.

No rust on the cab....which is wierd since the carfax has it being owned in new york and vermont. Bed shows signs of use but not bent up or beat to sh#*. I figured the miles were ok for that motor. It also had tires put on 6 months ago. To be used for lawn/landscaping business and personal firewood getter.

Is it 4x4? If so, I'd pay $4,500-5,500 depending on condition. If it's 4x2 it would go for $3,000-3,500 around here (seriously who wants to plow with a 4x2?).

So in answer, maybe.

I think it's worth it with the 4x4 and plow. I think my '90 f350 is worth at least that much. While it has really good paint, new tool boxes and a chip box, it doesn't have a plow or 4wd. It is, however, an auto vs stick. I would hate a 5spd for plowing if I was going to use it commercially. If just occasionally for my own use, probably not a big deal and a bonus to have the plow vs not have it.

Pictures of the truck you're looking at?

The old 7.3s were great engines, but they are a bear to start in the winter time.I have several customers that have owned them over the years. The majority all had replaced glow plugs, glow plug controllers, etc.and they were still hard to start.I owned one for a couple of winters and discovered the simplest way to get it going was give it a small shot of ether in the morning and you were good to go.
Before anyone makes any comments about the ether destroying engine,,,,,,
It works.I personally know of several that gets ether ever morning of the their lives.Just have to use very little,

Ford cured their starting problems on the 7.3 power-stroke(1994.5 year model) and later model diesel engines.

$3000 for 1995 f350 4x4 crew cab

I paid $3000 for a 1995 f350 4x4 crew cab gas engine (added the sides later) with 92K miles on it. It was a little bent here and there, nothing serious. Had to replace the tires on the drive home - bad alignment ate the front left tire measurably each mile I drove it.

I am pretty happy with what I paid and what this thing can do (anything I ask it to).

Good deal, but the diesels do go for quite a bit more, and the plow and dump add a lot too. I still think $5k sounds about right.

The only thing I would have changed about my f350 is that I would have preferred a diesel - but nobody lets go of those things willingly! It was really hard to find a diesel in a price range that didn't involve a loan.

I agree that this 88 f350 looks like a deal - just figured I would offer mine for comparison purposes.

Did you have to tell me that? Makes my little $3,000 deal smell less sweet.

GONE!!!! sonnofa %$#*@

Dove by where it was sitting and the truck was gone. Stopped in and the guy's wife said it was at the notary...somebody showed up with cash right before Christmas and got it. Guess it was a pretty good deal since it was only there a few days.

just be aware that it has quite a good but very expensive brake system called lucas brake system.
