:angry:Hey guys, I cant thank you enough for all the good info you've given me since I've joined. I have a question I cant seem to find an answer to. I've got a new 880 that Im looking to squeeze a little more power out of. I'm not so happy with it when compared to my 660 With a DP muff. Why is there not a DP muffler for the 880. Or is there and I just cant find it. I'm debating on making my own, and until the warranty runs out, I want to stick to a simple mod such as a muffler. I plan on milling with the saw when winter breaks and I can get back in the woods for the Hemlocks. If I make my own Muffler I can direct the outlet down away from me how I wish, but I'd rather buy one. Any ideas??

Its a 2 piece muffler I'm assuming it the stainless one. The saw is about 3 months old. I didn't even take it off yet to inspect it. I heard there is machining involved, which doesn't scare me as I'm a machinist.

WOW, that a sweet job!! I had something like that in mind. I took the muffler to work tonight and hollowed it out real nice. Being stainless, tomorrow I'm going to TIG in a stainless tube about 1 inch ID. Where it would be ideal for a cross cut application. Out and to the side. And in the end of this tube I'm going to put a fine thread in where I can screw in a secondary tube to direct the exhaust away while milling. I'll have to index the threads properly to tighten with the tube pointing properly in a ideal direction. I'm getting quite excited about how gnarly this saw is going to sound. thanks everyone for the ideas!! Hope it works.

Soooooooo....... I made the muffler, it came out awesome, tuning on the other hand is a little more tricky than I expected. Only because the darn rev limiter. Should I Get the saw to 4 stroke before it hits the limiter?? I have a tach and what not. I'm kinda assuming to tune it to the specified max no load RPM and call it a day. Its usually a breeze but I don't want to run her lean as you guys I'm sure know, you cant just go out and get an aftermarket P&C for an 880.

Yeah tuning is a bit of a pig..
Setting the H screw so that it sits on max rpm is potentially dangerous since the max rpm might just be the limiter in action and you might inadvertently be running it lean
I tune mine to max RPM (ie limiting in action) and then back it off a few hundred RPM (~ 11.5K) so I know I have control and am not bouncing off the limiter..
