Something went wrong and I can't figure it out. When I got done cutting the first block of wood out of this blowdown, I noticed I cut straight. I can't figure out what happened to my normally crooked cutting!

A woodcutter was sent up the other blowdown way. Maybe he took care of it?

Next month there should be a couple of logging operations going to take pictures of. The paperwork is coming in.

Remember when I ran your saw at Bookerdog's and it cut straight for me? I fixed it for you. Just don't ask me to share any trade secrets. :)

Update

It sure took them a while, but woodcutters took care of the mess. I just couldn't find anybody to tag along so it had to be done by them. Still a lot of wood up there to cut so new used dog and I will maybe go up this weekend and get another load. I had to duck tape the trailer wiring thing on the little pickup after the last trip. Oh, I used the pretty turquoise color.

Cutting windfalls is the most dangerous cutting there is, in my opinion. I try to get the root wads off first and then buck down the rest of the mess. Its like playing 'pick up sticks'.

Each situation is different, and it takes time and experience to do it without getting hurt. Looking the situation over very carefully is important. If you can't see a clear way to cut it...don't. A good cutter knows his limitations and knows when to call the bull buck, or simply walk away.

I realize I'm a little late to resond, but the advice is timeless.

Stay safe.

If things were perfect, I'd have a shovel grab it. I am taking the used dog up and will cut some of the other stuff up for firewood. It is only 5 miles from here. Our early start is not going to happen, the used dog got me up--absolutely would not let me ignore him, and it turned out to be for a very good reason. No more chicken goodies for a while.

LOL  +1 on the chicken goodies! Be carefull out there!

i'm glad you remained safe-- and i think the pretty turquoise was a superb choice!!!

Trinity: I might test the strength of the turquoise tomorrow. Not much sleep last night. I drank coffee so I could stay awake at the Indiana Jones movie. Unfortunately, I also stayed awake after the movie. Good movie though. Good to hear from you too. I hope you are seeing some of the sunny afternoon weather "there".
