OK! OK! I give! What is it?! Reminds me of a song "Does your saw hang low does it wobble to and fro?":hmm3grin2orange:

Do you get a funny feeling when it's bouncing off the ceiling?

That looks as though it could go ANYWHERE if it kicked back when used horizontally.:dizzy:

Could you tell us a bit more about the reasoning behind that type of handles?

At us in Russia even children know such elementary things. :) :) :)

There are many reasons:
- snow
- deep snow
- very deep snow
- ..... etc

When the lumberjack goes through snowdrifts he can carry chainsaw as a backpack, having released hands.

Having trampled down a snow around a tree, lumberjack put down chainsaw and fell a tree. Put in snow. Chainsaw - not head.

Inside of a flute exhaust gases gather. But the lumberjack breathes the cleanest siberian air.

Not convincingly?

The soviet lumberjack should not bow to a tree. :)

When lumberjack work with Ural or Druzhba for him between legs the machine dangles. Powerfull, vibrating machine with long-long-long tool. Oh, yes baby!!!

P.S. Sorry, I'm not speak english well :)

Thank you, that confirmes what I have heard before - I thought there could be other reasons as well, but obviously not.....:greenchainsaw:

maybe... maybe...

This chainsaw was designed in 1950th. Any body any more does not remember why so... Old russian tradition. :))

In Russia, "Ural" and "Druzhba" is classified as "heavy felling chainsaw". Only felling and crosscuttiong. Not limbing. It design is optimized for this work. Reduction of a maneuverability has allowed to increase efficiency in felling.

MOTOPILA,thanks for the info & the feedback.think you could round up a video of those types of saws in use?
it sure would be interesting to see'em in use.

As member Mange posted one at another site a while ago, running one of the Russian saws - but there was no snow present, so it looked a bit funny.......
