Quote = "I don't want to gain knowledge from somebody and then turn around and use it against them (competition). I find that truly disrespectful. My dad had a big construction outfit and had a lot of former employees do that. "

Just to be real, you'll find a very high percentage of people on here who got their start from what you've said above. This includes similar from about every other industry out there. I don't know anyone who've jumped into this industry as their own business with no prior experience.

Good Luck.

I didn't jump, but more or less eased into it, like an old man wading into a frigid lake to go swimming. The decision to quit a steady paycheque was equivalent to the cold water reaching the gonads.
On a side note, enjoyed a brief conversation with an older Hydro One forestry supervisor last week. He started with Hydro, quit to run his own tree biz for around fifteen years, and then got back on with Hydro. His advice: "locate a great employee working for a competitor, and poach them by offering them $10.00/hr more than the competition is paying them. They are gonna make you that money back anyway"

Yeah, all this info is very much appreciated. It may not be tomorrow or the next year but ill get there. Whether its learned or self taught, as long as it correct and safe that's all that matters.
