Sounds good Bud!!!

Gracias Carl. It was a long road. But the satisfaction and reward is bar none right now. It feels awesome. That little dude spins hard.

+1. Sounds real good. Now get a sharp chain on that baby and get it in some wood already:greenchainsaw:
LOL. For sure. I'm going up to Kennedy Meadows in the Southern part of the Sierra Nevada tomorrow for some fishing. I'll be taking the 5100 along just in case I find some big wood:rock:

Where have you been on this crazy pre assembly lube thing, we could use some common sense!

Don't worry Chops. You be aight.

What a long day. Got a permit and found a small stash. It was an awesome day. Practically had the place to ourselves. Didn't get to use the little bull as there were restrictions. So I was limited as to what I could take. Saw monster shot gun rounds.

Went into the Southern Sequoia National Forest.

Then went onto Kennedy Meadows via Sherman Pass

I wish I was up there in that saddle peak having a taco and a cold cerveza in the shade taking in the view and sounds.

Not too many people get to see Mt. Whitney from this part of the woods.

Highest point in the USA hometowns...well, not including Alaska.

Another look.

Heading out of Kennedy Meadows looking onto Dome land wilderness out in the far reaches.

Got a small stash for CT's romp tomorrow.

I'll post a vid tomorrow sometime.

I'm out!

wow. That is one wicked tree. What is it?

I think it's a Juniper Wiggs, but I'm not certain. I can double check for you.

Al, we got to the Kern River (Kennedy Meadows) towards the end of the day and the river was just about stagnant:cry: Critters flying above the slow moving river with no "jumps" whatsoever. Not one fish in sight. I was really bummed out. I guess they don't stock it this late in the season.

It was still a cool day though. Lots of driving, but well worth it.

Trying to drag my butt out of bed to build that cant...

It's 102 outside and I needs to take a siesta

I'm busting out the 16" just like everyone else:hmm3grin2orange:

I wanted to always build a stand that would remain solid. And not move. This video taught me that. Once I stopped the movement, the gnarly 2 stroke buzz magically appeared; And the right pressure of course...But what did it was a solid stand, just like a standing tree before felling.

Today's show will be brought to you by some of your hard earned fed tax dollars!

I couldn't buck quick. For some reason, it was digging itself too hard into the wood and would stop. I hope this GTG happens so someone can show me how to properly sharpen a chain and set the rakers. With that said, on to the show. Oh, I figured I would change how I cut with the new stand, but I noticed I have the same stupid techniques:censored:

Some hard pine.

Super Chevy Show. I didnt want to believe that knots slowed a cut down, but I found out big time!!!

Henry, I can't wait for you guys to try out my saws. This GTG should be a blast. It sounds like Bounty has it made in the shade for those of us going:clap:

BTW, how did the sonic boom feel:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: I thought someone's propane tank lit up down the block. Dang!!!!!

Frank, I'll let you know in about 1-2 tanks. I've noticed when I have gone through the stages of modding the 51 and sixfoe, it took about that many tank(s) to re-seat the ring, if there is such a thing?? But that's what I have noticed in the past. I checked how much fuel it jetted and it took 1/2 a tank for the cuts I made today. That's the second heat cycle I gave it. The other was yesterdays short start up. The one thing I noticed just now before writing this, is how hard it was to pull 1 stroke (like priming the carb) now that it has had time to cool off and it was a good strong pull. Harder than when I primed it this afternoon to make these videos. And I would say by a tooth pick than before at .020.

I could feel and hear the difference with the small porting of the transfers. I don't think that a .002 compression change would affect the "new" sound up top at WOT. I'm jazzed right now and can't wait to cut more tomorrow.

In essence , working the upper transfers is a must. I'm a new believer in working the upper transfers.

That's too hot out to do anything mate. Beer and siesta time methinks :)

BTW, the forecast is for 82*F here today.
It's in that transition between winter and spring, we are still getting frosts, had one last night and probably another tonight :dizzy:

Geez Rick, I'm finding it very hard to not grab the grinder ATM after you keep making posts like this and then where would me before/after tests be ??

Rick Rock, before and after tests, I've never done one. I have just showed the videos of the different mods I've done to the saw since the muffler mod. But IMHO, this 5100 has NEVER sounded as healthy as it does now. I'm a true believer in upper transfer work now. And especially cleaning up the bad castings on upper and lower transfers.

On a side note, I have an idea of how to do it for the open transfers on the 6401, but don't really know how it will affect it. I'd hate to take the saw to the GTG and not be as strong as it is now. I'm going to wait till after the GTG and then try it.

If the GTG happens, this 5100 should well be on its way to being run and broken in. I can't wait to give it up at the GTG.

Thanks Brad. I truly believe in upper transfer work now. It will be a must in personal saws now.

I'm going to run it for a while. I don't think I can manage 2 years now like I planned. It would be interesting to see what happens if the transfers were widened more like you and wiggles mentioned.

Slick Rick, work those upper transfers

Frank, it's feeling MoBetter:cheers:

The pull was distinctly harder today. Harder than ever before, and it's hard to believe that I can feel the .002 diff. Amazing stuff. I can't wait to take a reading.

I worked the rakers today a little bit and it felt a lot better than yesterday. I was playing with different pressures to see what it felt like to push the saw and then finally towards the end of the last cut I let off, let the rpm's rise and then let the saw do the work. It felt about the same, strength wise, except the sound and a harder pull:clap:, but I only expect, with more run time, it will improve some.

Letting the saw warm up on the first cut. And my 1st attempt at an up-cut:dizzy:
