This is sure to earn me some slack. I got bored with the white and orange. Let me know what you think about the color scheme and idea of changing a saw like this.

I know the finish isn't great. It's the best I could do with walmart rattle can spray paint. I'm not offended by or remotely interested in criticism on that aspect of it.

Posted in the wrong thread.....
Should be in the WTF thread!:msp_w00t:

That's funny. My 7 year old said the same thing about the flames. Maybe next time. I used krylon fusion so I'm sure it'll need to be done again. I may end up getting some 2 part automotive paint to do it right next time. I'm curious to see how this holds up under normal use.

I definitely agree on the WTF thread.

Any idea on some custom name tags? I'm figuring this could be a theft deterrent feature cause no dumb ass burglar would associate this saw with a stihl now. I was thinking possibly get some poulan pro stickers for the metal tags. haha

That's kinda what I was going for. It's a LOT less likely to get taken out of the back of my truck now. The black rustoleum came out nice. I'm not a real fan of the sheen of the krylon fusion paint though. Oh well, whadaya expect for $4 paint from walmart.

I'm not fond of the maroon but I really don't think stihl orange is any better. I'm thinking silver or grey. I wish I had some software to change colors out to see how they look but oh well. I definitely like the black better than the white though. That's there to stay.

I picked up this saw for $60 from someone that didn't know or care that the Tecomec cylinder upgrade had already been done. It's not the super but it's a 52cc and might as well be. The throttle linkage was worn/bent in a way that full trigger pull was only 75-80% throttle. I'm sure that's why he was willing to sell it so cheap. The only things I've had to do was the linkage, the impulse line was starting to be dry rotted, and the sprocket was worn out.

I figure it's a $60 saw to me, There's plenty of them out there and it isn't old enough to be worth anything to collectors so I don't feel guilty like I'm disgracing an antique or anything.

I would keep your day job as the interior decorator. As a painter you would qualify for the most ghastly in the lot. The saw should be Red and Green! Get it right next time!Andrea Stihl is probably turning over in his crypt, Ken

So... saws you're cutting wood with have to be pretty? WOW... I thought I was a little crazy for trying different colors out.

I can see you're as good at insulting as you are at custom painting saws!

Remember, you asked for my opinion. ;)

And yeah, I'm a huge fan of pretty saws - check out Scooterbum's work.....
