I just fried my lead teeth on my big rayco stump grinder. Had it since January, I think 1670D, or somewhere around there. I have the vermeer pocket teeth on it now. I DON'T like pocket teeth because they break off before they use up. I have used the rayco super teeth for years on my little s.g. (self propelled), and love em. The debate is between the superteeth and the green teeth. I'm not interested in dealer sales attempts. Any of you guys had experience with BOTH regarding a larger powered machine?

greenteeth on my 665a - great setup. Lots of threads on this topic already. Do a search. The sandvik wheel should also be considered.

I recently purchased a new Rayco RG50 Super. I like the machine but don't like their wheel. Debris shoots out the front and sides. I also have a Carlton with the Sandvik wheel. That wheel is the cats azz. I wish I could put a sandvik wheel on the Rayco machine now but I was told that it would void the warranty. That sandvik wheel puts all the debris nicely under the machine and not all over the yard. Don't need to set up screening with that wheel. As soon as the warranty expires on the Rayco I will be replacing it.

Rayco says putting green teeth on their machines voids your warranty also.

tooth swap

Thanks, man; I appreciate the response. You are observing my search. Fact is, I just recently found this site. Have you dealt with BOTH the superteeth and the greens? Sandvik isn't in the budget right now, and this machine hasn't seen warranty information since Nixon was pres.

Even if those two performed equal, the greenteeth win hands down on maintenance. You don't have to take the whole pocket off each time to change them out. You also don't have to send anything but the teeth when it's time to send them to get sharpened. That saves a bunch on shipping.

From everything I've read, the Greenteeth perform better too. I've used them and loved them but never used the superteeth to compare them to.

How do they do on rocks? I've heard that they shatter easy. I don't have any problem sharpening my own stuff. Do rocks often destroy the "pockets" ? I'm taking a chance not getting it back up and running, but if I make the financial move, I don't like to have to redo it. Nothing's gold plated in my equipment collection, just mostly running. That's why I was hoping for feedback from those who have had dealings with the superteeth AND the greens. Doesn't seem to be going on for me, though, and I think I'm cutting it too close not getting onto something before the next need for it.

What teeth are on that Rayco?

No rocks here so can't tell you one way or another.

I hae the standard Rayco Super Teeth on my little 1625 Rayco. They have held up well in rocky conditions.
I have Green Teeth on my 2900 tracked Bandit. They seem to throw chips all over the place. They also chip off real easy in rocky soils. I really am thinking about changing the big machine to the Rayco Super Teeth. Those Green Teeth throw debris 50' in all directions. It is really difficult to use it anywhere near a house or building that has windows within 50' of the stump. I have to stand so far from the stump with the remote, that I can hardly see what I am doing. I am not a big fan of the Green Teeth.

That's why God invented plywood.

Now, that's the same advise I would give out. You work where you work, that's it. Where I work, they built a town on a river bed. You can probably see why I need to allow for the ugly variables. Come to think of it, I haven't been able to convince my customers to move their trees to their front yards, so I can get to them easier, either.

Guys: I appreciate all the insight on the s.g. teeth. The sandvik wheel isn't in the budget right now, and there's another one called the Leonardi (or something like that). I can see the potential in both new styles of wheels, but. . . . After checking into the Yellow jackets, and the greens, I have decided to go with the greens. One of my mottos is like most of yours: do it right or do it twice. Thanks again, Chipr

Hey Jeff,

Small world.....

Good to see you on here Tim. This is a good forum. Lots of friendly folks with a lot of good experience and info. I check in here, more than I do on the lawn forums, since I quit mowing fulltime.
Jeff
