They are old designs that appeal to some guys because they are cheap. Probably a better deal than a clamshell from Stihl or Husky although a 450 rancher makes more power.

Echo are not cheap in quality but cheap in price compared to others. Do not buy a Echo to take to the race track. But if you want a excellent every day driver like a Toyota or Honda firewood saw then Echo is your saw.
Remember walker, you said it yourself, you have no modern day experience with Echo since the Echo Kioritz days.
No one suggested they are low in quality. I certainly never have.
The are just old designs that lack in performance and that's why they are cheap.
What is that I hear cutting wood without bearing issues. Reliable to use and cut with and wood cant tell the difference.

Guy wanting to buy my last on shelf chrome bore 54cc 3.3 335 from me.
They were little heavy at PHO dry they come on 11lbs 7-13oz but made in 90's.

Said he uses them on all his saws.
So told him send one my way.

My stock (non cat) 346 NE and ported 353 are my favorite 50cc saws. The 353 will outrun the the 346 by around 8-10% swapping chains back and forth.
I run my FIL’s 501 w/ muff mod (stock choked outlet plate removed) some times and it is pretty much dead nuts between my 2 Husq’s.
With that said, I do enjoy the ergos of the huskys more, but the 501 being the lightest in class is impressive. If one can spare the minute or two to pull the 2 screws & stock outlet, cut times will drop at least 15%.
Stock for stock the 346 NE pulls away from the 501.
Where can these new 3 series Huskies be found?
I’m damn old for 27, I love dinosaur saws.

353 ones are already in states and sold by a dealer in my CRG. The 372's by Paveen.

Waiting on new ring to seat on 346. Already MM too and retuned it.
501 already inner restriction pipe removed and deflector open and already tuned close to max rpm.
This one came set so rich from factory and choke at muffler no wonder numbers dont look good.
But in the cut now tells a whole different story. Surprised me.
It will be great to see 346 & 501 times once the 346 is muff modded!
Already been done. Trying to get some tanks through it before next round.
She is right up there now too to their 14.1K coil Just hair under where she felt best too.
Just dont make since as they feel and sound so much peppier. But the cut times didnt show it. Figure has to me more there after some tanks through it.
