There was a ton of acorns up in central NY this year. You've got to watch the oaks in the spring..Lots of crazy flowers ='s lots of acorns. No flowers in the spring = no acorns. It's all frost related.

lack of acorns

there have been sightings in new england and the midwest this year of an abomination of nature. a giant 4' tall, 20' long squirrel has been seen devouring whole trees worth of acorns by simply shaking the trunk and opening his mouth. the squirrel is nocturnal and its fur is identical to mossy oak breakup camoflauge. authorities are asking people not to try and intervene with the squirrels habits, as it may defend itself visciously and aquire a taste for blood. However, due to the almost impossible odds of even seeing the squirrel, loss of life is not expected.

lol sorry guys, its one of those days lol

looks like that cat has the best seat at the house, knock it out of that chair and get you some tree rat next time momma,s gone.

that cat gets fresh catfood and tuna 5 times a day.
The fricken squirrels run up to, under and around that chair.

He don't care.

now, my daughters black lab / jack russell puppy, I let her slip out the front door, and ding ding, its on.
This 8 month old, 40 lb dynamo runs em over, runs 6' up the tree after them, and generally terrorizes them.
priceless, I love that dog.

acorns

Along the gulf coast, stretching from La.to Fla., there has been an unusual abundance of acorns here, especially on the Southern live oaks. The old timers here say they have never seen the trees so heavy with them. Even with a gentle wind, one can hear a constant rain of acorns hitting the ground as if you're in a giant popcorn machine. I recently was told that the reason there are so many oaks here in the south is that the ranchers planted them to harvest the acorns for feed for their cattle. We sure love our heritage oaks down here.
