Saw Dust Smoken had sent me a PM about the weights on my mini. I could not figure how to add pics when sending a private message. Also, by posting in a thread, others may want to add weight to theirs. I find it helpful.

The weights on your mini. Was that with just a bolt through the middle of weights?
I have a 25G also. Just wondering how to attach to frame? Thanks..

I purchased the Thomas 25g used and it already had the weights attached. Yes the bolt goes through the middle of the weights. The plate that anchors the bolts was welded on the rear tie-down holes. A little bit of a pain when you need to tie the machine down to the trailer. I now use the engine access holes that are between the wheels. Not ideal, but it will do.

One advantage of having the weights where they are is that when you "wheelie" the machine, they act as wheelie bars. The weights actually spin as they roll on the ground. There is 75 lbs. per side. With the extra 150 lbs. on the rear, it is like constantly having an extra person standing with you, which is very helpful when trying to carry heavy items. The only draw back is when you do not have any implement on the front, the machine is heavy in the rear and will tip back (and roll on the weights) if you drive too fast. Not much of a problem. Just go slow and walk beside the machine while operating the controls while you hook up to the other implement. (Bucket, grapple, trailer hitch, etc.) The only time this occurs for me is when I'm changing attachments anyways. If, for some reason I had to move the machine quite a ways, I could always remove the weights as they come off very easy.

I suppose I could also add more weight for extra carrying capacity, however the machine would most liky want to tip to the rear when empty. With 150 lbs. on the rear, it seems to be the perfect match for the bucket or grapple. I just have to be a little careful when moving with the trailer hitch attachment when there is nothing on the ball or pintle.

Hope this helps. I also added the pics. for reference.

Cheers,

Chuck

weights

Thanks Chuck! I'll do something close to what you have. "Wheelie" bar that rolls is good idea.

Solid filled tyres to add extra weight?

Hi Chuck,

Do you guys run solid filled tyres in Canada?
A few of the guys in Australia do, some for and some against it (mainly due to the expense).
That might add enough weight at the front to stop it tipping up when unloaded, particularly as the weight is at the lowest point of the machine and stops any punctures which can be handy.

I like this one! :chainsaw:

Cheers,

Cam
