Where can I find out what's available as aftermarket repair parts. I have seen tecomec piston/cylinder kits on e-bay but can't get a catolog (their catolog request reply is in ITALIAN) My boss said I could use the company name to order a Stens catalog but I have to do this at work so the secretary can enter the tax id info. I'd like to see about pistons for older Stihl and Jonsered saws that are no longer available from the oem.

after market parts

There are some items in the Tilton Equipment "Total" catalog.

Tilton's number is 877 584 5866

I also believe there is, or used to be, a "Rotary" aftermarket line, but I am not a dealer for them.

Well since Jacks doesn't sponsor arboristsite, I feel http://opecenter.com/viewcat.php?id=2 has the edge on them. They sell the exact same thing as jacks. As far as the cylinders, I talked to them a few weeks ago and they are putting stuff on there little by little. Also I checked. Opecenter is much cheaper on parts than Jacks. What I did is take the part numbers off jacks and put in opecenters price data base to get a price.

You are right Fish. OPECenter does pretty much the same thing is all I was saying.

I asked Doug at the last Expo if there was any problem
on reprinting their catalog, he said "HeXX no!".
Whatever sells is their motto. I found more pistons
assemblies ay Sunbelt, but they are such a poor
supplier, I gave up on them. They need to fire
most of their sales staff, as the people I have contacted
need to be flogged.

Opecenter

As Opecenter is a sponsor of the site...I feel that this is the place as well...these guys keep it free for us all boysand girls...if one of the sponsors doesnt have what you need...then by all means recommend someone else....but in the meantime...lets try to help those that help us..

Darin, Dennis, My intent was not to step on any toes! Let me clarify my question, I don't want to know the retailers of the aftermarket parts, I want the source! I'll give a car example, I can get a catalog from Edelbrock listing all of their products, but I can't buy directly from them. If I go to a retailer of Edelbrock products there is no guarantee that he will stock or catalog all of the Edelbrock line, but if I had the Edelbrock catalog, I could ask the retailer to get me anything in it. Same story with my saw parts, I may be looking for a slow moving product that the retailer doesn't feel is worth stocking or putting in HIS catalog. I have been to OPE center.com and, frankly was not impressed with their site. I thank them for sponsoring this forum but I require more than just 1 replacement part for a Jonsered chainsaw and it may not be a contact set which is all they list! They list 75 parts for Stihl saws, all oem from buy-outs of other retailers, no aftermarket. I've also checked Sherrill's site but they are arborist supply not chainsaw supply, I'm 330 pounds I AINT CLIMBING NO TREE!!!!!!!

Ok I see your point now. Yes, I realize the Jonsered parts on opecenter are not plentiful. I was just comparing them with other websites and didnt realize you were mainly looking for Jonsered. There arent a lot of aftermarket parts for Jonsered. I used to be a dealer for just about every aftermarket manufacturer there is and a few that have left us. NONE really had a Jonsered section with exception of some parts such as ignition parts and maybe a few gaskets and seals. And the only reason they were in there is that they fit a Husky too.:D There is a place called I believe Laser or Lazer that manufactures or distributes aftermarket parts to dealers with the names of those cylinders you mentioned, Tilton would be another source that was already mentioned also.

BTW-with any parts website out there including the ones that sponsor us here. It takes a huge amount of time to input items. Like opecenter you may find they are adding items from say like a stens book. Just think about how long that takes. You may never see it on all these guys websites but they may be able to get it. I couldnt imagine doing Sherrills site. That thing is amazing. That would take a huge amount of time. Just a thought for you.

Sorry about my Sunbelt rant, but I have tried
many times to order parts from them. I had an
account with them 8 years ago and was pleased
with them. But when I tried to set up an
account last year, I hit a brick wall. They wouldn't
talk to me without me buying $500 worth of stuff,
but without even seeing a catalog. Sorry, I can't
do that. They used to be a good source for parts
too.
