There are some new models from Husqvarna here in Scandinavia, of ClearingSaw/BrushCutter "All In One", I haven't seen them anywhere else. They are a mix of ClearingSaw and BrushCutter, the rig, rig length, and the engine's top RPM are more like a ClearingSaw, and the handle, throttle, and gear are more like a BrushCutter. The 353FR come whit scarlett saw-blade, brushcutter tri-blade, and T45 trimmer-head.
This is maybe the tool for the man that only want one Cutter to it do all, or maybe to fill the gap between the ClearingSaw and BrushCutter ;)

I was looking at the Husqvarna brushcutters in the catalog, and read good reviews of them. The problem is the lack of availabltity here. It's pretty much Stihl or Echo only. The only Husqvarna dealer also carrries Echo and Redmax, but he stocks very few if any of the larger brushcutters.

I ended up getting the Stihl fs130 and and have been very happy with it. Only had the tri-blade on it so far, but it will easily cut through 1 inch saplings and brush.

I will maybe look at the 343FR if it came in Jonsered version :help:
and then it will be named something like Jonsered FB 2145 ;)

MAG58, what are the differences between what you describe as a 'brushcutter' and a clearing saw?

I'd think a 'clearing saw' would have a larger engine, and maybe one tuned for more torque? Possibly a beefier gearbox/shaft/housing...

There are many differences between a Clearing-Saw and a Brush-Cutter, I will try to make it a bit clearer whit my Clearing-Saw and my Brush-Cutter, and some photo.

1. The engines are the same in this model's, but top RPM on a Brush-Cutter are lower, 12500 RPM cos you hold full throttle for a longer period, the Clearing-Saw have top RPM at 13500 cos you just have full throttle for the cut.

2. The gearbox on a Brush-Cutter make the blade or trimmer-head spin at around 10 000 RPM, on a Clearing-Saw the blade spin at around 12 000 RPM.

3. The gearboxes have different angle.

4. A Brush-Cutter are a bit longer, cos they have longer rig-tube/shaft, and a little bit longer housing then a Clearing-Saw have.

5. There is different handle on them, and the Brush-Cutter have a higher rig to the handle.

6. There are different throttle on them cos the way they are used, Brush-Cutter's have trigger throttle, and Clearing-Saw's have thumb throttle.

I think I got most of the differences here now :dizzy:

Clearing saw

I'm looking at clearing saws now too. I want to replace my 37cc Tanka unit.
I see were the Husky 353FR has a cat muffler and runs to the hot side. I wonder if the Jonsered model has a cat muffler too.
If I had my pick it would be the Jonsered unit.

The Jonsered version of the Mix-Cutter Husqvarna 343FR is not out yet.
But anyway the difference on a Cat or no Cat is not big, and it's easy to do a "muffler mod" on this engines.:D

Clearing saw

I like the Husky package with the saw-blade, Tri blade and trimmer head.
Who has the better harness set-up? Those saws get heavy working on a hillside.
I need to find a Jonsered dealer who has that FC2145 I think that is the unit I want.

Husqvarna and Jonsered have the same harness, and there are 3 types for this Clearing-Saw's and Brush-Cutter's, and they are pretty good all of them.

Must check if my dealer has the 343fr in stock, seems to fit my needs perfect !!!

Yes, the big Clearing-Saw's are Heavy Monster's and they can use 10" saw blade, and they are larger then any Brush-Cutter

Yeah, something like husky 265r, its a beast...

btw, not all clearing saws have thumb throttle, for example stihl fs400k...

But that is STIHL you know, and weary similar to the new Husky 343FR mix Saw-Cutter, and maybe that's why Husqvarna have made one of this type.

But any real Clearing-Saw have thumb throttle, you know that :ices_rofl:

Harness

Here are the harness I have, I like the 3-55 when I use the Clearing-Saw and when I use the Brush-Cutter in very rough terrain cos it thither and I feel that I have better control and are safer. The 2-55 is the harness that I use most whit the Brush-Cutter cos it feels like it's better and faster to work whit in flatter and easy terrain.
