Found a sweet deal on a newer grinder that needed minimal work to run nice. Was supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I got a call from the guy a few hours ago and he said some guy from RI called and offered 225 over asking price. I told him if the guy shows when I am supposed to pick it up and wants to bid on it, I'll entertain the idea, but he wasn't able to come until Monday. I said no deal, but I'll still come tomorrow to pick it up at the advertised price, deal. Then got a call back again, and now the A-HOLE from RI is coming tonight with the extra loot to take it away.

####ty thing is, the guy selling it is a local and in a related business (not direct competition). Wouldn't you'd rather hook another company up in your own territory that could potentially throw you thousands of dollars of work throughout the year, rather than make a couple extra one time bucks from some guy outta state?

Can't win em all I guess, but I won't be surprised if I get a call from him tonight or tomorrow saying that the guy didn't show. Wasn't even looking to buy a grinder, but for the price, it was a no brainer... Now I'm kinda dissapointed lol..

Lol.

When I sell something I like to see it go out of state so I don't ever have to see it again, kinda like my old girlfriend. Goodbuy and good riddance.

Good point. The guy actualy kinda felt the same way. He put A LOT of money into it very recently, and one of the parts he bought and installed himself blew up again after a months worth of use, so out of disgust, he put it up at a firesale price because if he had to look at it past this weekend, he "was going to dump it in the harbor". Haahahahahahaha.

He might have been doing you a favour.
People often sell gear when they know there's something wrong with it, or something that isn't going to last. I've been guilty of selling off things that I knew weren't going to last very long, and I always tried to sell them far form me rather than local. I don't even advertise local, I don't want to have to deal with that person again.

To be honest, even when I sell something I know is a great deal, I really don't want to sell it to family, a friend or even an acquaintance. For no reason I can understand, people tend to carry a grudge for years over the slightest thing. Sell your car to your brother, and 3 years later he gets a flat tyre.... It will forever be 'that lemon you sold him'.
