I was wondering if any of you use amsoil pre-mix 100:1. And what kind of long time use you get out of the saw using it.

Greetings, For a first post, you picked a doosey! Oil wars are on-going here, I'll save everyone some sore fingers and tell you the two most supported positions.
1, Run Mobil MX2T at 32:1 2, Run a modern, quality oil (Stihl, Husqvarna, etc) at 50:1 Anyone who will run 100:1 is completely nuts (a popularly held opinion, which I agree with)

Btw. Even the most overpriced mix-oil at the richest ratio is a tiny percent of saw operating costs and not worth being cheap about.

Thanks for the reply! I been mixing it 70:1. Been using it for about two years in a mantis tiller a stihl leaf blower, stihl weed eater and two olympik saws(244and999f). A guy I work with is a small dealer and a friend and he swears buy it. You guyies cut alot more than I ever will so maybe I better switch to mobil.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. What does MLM stand for?

Yes, I was refering to the way it is distributed.
Instead of being on a store shelf with twenty other similar products and moving on it's merits and price, it's sold like Mary Kay or Amway Products, pushed on you with tails of how wonderful it is.
I don't know what your saleperson told you, but I found out it really won't grow hair on my bald spots, it didn't help me lose weight, my pee pee is still small, my truck still only gets 12 MPG, my bald tires don't have tread again, and we still don't have world peace.

What's the logic of running MX2T at 32:1 and the others at 50:1?

If MX2T is so good, why not run that at 50:1 too?

Hello--I'm no expert like most of you full timers but I have been using my older Mac 610's for literally thousands of hours cutting all oak logs for my firewood business & I have always used a quality two stroke oil at a 40 to 1 mix & a secret that I have found is to use 93 octane gas!--Yep believe it or not the cylinder head temp will run 20 degrees cooler resulting in longer engine cylinder life...Bill rvine

I run Amsoil 2000 racing oil at 50 to 1 in my ********, no problems yet.
I also run Husky black bottle mix in my wood cutters with best grade pump gas ( name brand ).

i have found your findings to be corect ,,mr bill irvine. still ive used the mx2 and am very impressed . think im there,, now after i use the rest of my echo .. aint hurt either way .and the mxt really does run clean at 40-1 also.. and i thank it mite be cheaper.

Well the difference in the ratios is because there are 2 different camps of thought.

1. Run MX2T at 32:1 because that is a good ratio to use and its not EPA mandated. The MX2T camp includes Maxima K2 and Motul 800 followers also, you will find people love those, it then just comes down to a bang for the buck issue.

2. Camp 2 is pretty much Stihl, Husky, etc know best so I am going to use their oil at the ratio they want me to use. (50:1) Pretty much follow the directions crowd.

About 99% of the people on the boards belive that anything over 50:1 is just bad news and should never be used. Check the previous synthetic threads and you will get more info than you ever wanted.

Vsteel 'splained it well but I think he really meant that 99% don't believe in using LESS than 50:1. As in 100:1 is less than 50:1.

Counter to what scamsoil and opti say its the engine design and load the dictates mix ratio, not the oil. Therse 100:1 oils are nothing new. They basicaly use alot of mettalic antiwear additives to prevent seizure in lew of the decreased oil inside the motor. The problem with doing this is that it leads to increased deposits(which causes wear), higher operating temps and less compression from lack of ring seal. Mobil mx2t runs great at 50:1 and you can cdertainly run it at that. I chose richer ratios because a few more ounces of oil is cheap insurance.

Well I am an expert here, and am here to help you guys.

I find "Amsoil" to be a top seller, it helps the ozone as well as
cures many forms of gout and skin cancer, so the downside of
its use is compensated by it's benefits to humanity, so I highly
recommend it's purchase, and buying of "Amsoil" stock on the
Chicago market. One customer bought a bottle last week,
and he bought a lottery ticket on the way home to his devoted
family, and he came by the shop last Thursday, and boldly
proclaimed to my mechanics, that he got 4 out of six numbers,
and he was still a poor pathetic loser, but he was using "Amsoil"!
But I must digress.........
