Yeah I fight with that too but always set me rope anyway. And Osha has nothing to do with it but I will say if it weren't for them there would be a lot of people trying to make other people do some pretty foolish things. I understand why no one like them, maybe we should get rid of the police force too.

I'm not taking sides, but in the one picture it would probably be a better idea to use a tag line or two to guide the trunk instead of standing between the fence and the trunk guiding it with your hands when the crane was lifting it. Just a thought.

That's a good point. There should of been tag lines attached to other cranes, plus one tetherd to the moon.

I said I'm not taking sides but since the topic moved towards safety, I threw that in there only because it caught my attention. I don't care what the guy does, and yes when I've been involved in crane jobs we didn't use tag lines all the time either. Heck those guys are way better then I, at least when it comes to chunking or felling big logs. I was just pointing it out, that's all.

Agreed. Also, in the pic where the crane is removing the butt, the guy is standing between the butt and the fence. No where to go if something goes wrong. They could have tied a rope to it instead, would have been safer.

I was thinking the same thing, along the lines of his little mas is not going to help move that chunk any.

The point wasnt if its acceptable there, the point is that BCMA has posted here about turning in people for not following ANSI and OSHA standards here in the States. But then he posts pics of his own people or maybe its him doing the same thing.

It looks like he may have orange foam plugs in ears (not sure) but at least others are seeing my point.

The differance is you already live in a socialist country, we are trying to fight from becoming one, its the principals our country was founded on, through blood sweat and tears. We did "another crane job" today after doing one on a house on Monday. Was really tight getting my 75 foot bucket and this small crane around that bend in drive with fences there and small gate to get thru to get in back.

Once in there it was well worth it as 90 foot English Elm over 2 houses and fences came down in a couple of hours which would have taken over a day just climb/rigging it. From the boom to the BC2000 then the wood went straight into the flat bed dump. Plywood protected neighbor's (we were getting paid from house next door) small grassed area.

If you have a 50 or 60 foot bucket already and are looking for a very profitable investment, the big 75 or 80 foot or more bucket has proven to pay itself back quickly IMO. It doesn't go out day to day but when it does it earns its keep.
