So I sold the original winch that I built a while back, bought a used Farmi or Fransgard and never did use it, just painted it Orange and added three new chokers and ended up selling that. I picked up this worm gear drive winch in between, It was originally hydraulically powered but the pump was rusted shut so I decided to make it into a PTO powered 3 point winch. I did gear it up a bit by replacing the sprocket that was on the hydraulic pump which was a 15 tooth same as on the winch with a 25 tooth. According to my math I geared it up 1.66% Probably not the going to be the fastest but it should work. I put about 200' of aircraft cable on the spool. It still needs a few things like the bottom plate and I'm going to build some sort of rack to hold either a 50 cal ammo box for chains or a milk crate along with the chainsaw and gas and oil. I'll keep it updated.

Subscribed! Been looking for parts and peices to make something similar for a hot minute.
The winches seem to be available all the time for a couple hundred bucks. Let me know if you want any specific information.
I just used a PTO shaft extension, a couple of bearings and a hub with weld on sprocket. #50 chain. The PTO shaft can be had new pretty reasonable at Agri supply (https://www.agrisupply.com/pto-shaf...rchAdv&zmam=77232640&zmas=1&zmac=1&zmap=89795) The fist one I bought a few years ago was $69.00

A word of caution with this style winch, It is impossible to pop it out of gear under a load! Be warned. On my L2501 I had to get on the tractor and push the clutch in where I wanted the logs to stop and shut the pto off.
It's not terribly slow which was a nice surprise, I haven't had a chance to try it with some rpm's rather than at an idle.
Over all I'm pretty happy with it's performance. I did add some 3/8" plate like a blade and used some 11 ga I had for the arch.
