I just bought my first bottle of mobil Racing 2T, $7.19 qt. at Autozone.
I told the the employee I was going to run it in my chainsaw. He says in return, that if I start to use this in my saw, I cannot switch back to a non-synthetic oil. Is this true?
Last thing I wanna, do is mess up my 361!

It depends how you define "true". If you mean "true" as an honest, informed answer, he would be wrong. If you mean "true" as some kind of old wives tale that is completely devoid of reality, then, it would be true.

Even dating the story won't make it true. We had a snowmobile in the 70s that we ran both dyno and synthetic in and it ran, and ran, and ran...well, you get the point.

They used to say the same thing about crankcase oil in cars, and apparently some of the early synthetics had problems with seal compatibility, but the guy in the store is just wrong. There are a lot of modern lubricants which use a mix of synthetic and dino oil, and I believe some of the current two-stroke formulations do the same thing, although not sure about the latter. Of course the guy didn't have a REASON why you couldn't switch back, right?

Well yeah, his reason was, and (I'm only going from my memory), is that there may be "pores" that develop within the piston and cylinder, that if I go back to non synthetic could cause problems. (Shucks) I don't know.
Notice SHUCKS is two bad words put together. :hmm3grin2orange:

I finally went to autozone to look for this oil. Farm&Fleet doesn't carry it. I couldn't find any on the shelf. So I ask the counter guy about it and he directs me to the clearance rack!! I bought 10 qts(all they had) at .99 cents a piece!!! Came to $10.46 with tax!! Tomorrow I go back for the smaller bottles of it. .99 also. I knew there was a reason I got up today.
