I saw one in the Bailey's catalog,by the numbers it sounds like a neat little saw.I'm thinking I might want one to cut chunks down out of big trees.I'd kinda like to hear a little feedback on this one.

A number of people do, and there has been significant discussion of it.

and enter 357XP with it selected to search titles only, and only the chainsaw forum.

We'll see you in a few hours when you come up for air from the reading.

I got one a few weeks ago when Amick's had them on sale. I would make sure it is the latest model without the auto-decomp, which I heard had some problems. I don't have lots to compare it with, but I'm really happy with the power, it cuts great. It cold starts very easily and I am liking the air-injection.

I really like mine, I use it for limbing and cutting hardwood up to 18" or so at which point the 372 takes over.

i did look at one nice saw felt good then got the 441 for only 45.00 more

it was i went to a dealer I had bought lots of stuff off over the yrs,My husky dealer asked 639.95 for the 357 xp but it was a nice saw

I love mine. It a runner. Good power to weight ratio. Nice feel, good balance.

Just some advice though... be prepared.... the MS361 guru's are coming!!!!!!!!!

I am actually surprised that they are not here already....

i'm amazed at the variations in husky prices. i thought they were going to start enforcing power price only.

Ouch!, nothing like that full retail on the 357. I don't think he will sell many at that price when a new 441 is just a few bucks more.

The 357 is one of the 3 huskies I've run. Belonged to the other snow cat driver at work. Seemed like a good little saw, although I only cut a couple of trees with it. However, it did randomly die on me and refuse to restart for a little bit, but that's been about my luck with huskies. I've run 361s a bit, and think they're great too, but I didn't run the 357 enough to get a good comparison.

Nice little saw.
I got mine to replace the 570.
I lost some power, and a lot of weight.

But its a good runner, and starts MUCH easier.

I have to run it against the 346xp, just for kicks, but the power of it is more akin to the 570.

Heres the paper rundown - 357 - 12.1# 4.4hp
570 - 14.9# 4.9hp

Stihl 361 12.3# 4.4hp

I liked it better than the 361, but the 361 is also a very nice saw.

Bought me one for Christmas and I love it :)
I run it with 15" and 18" bars the balance is perfect with 18" and just little rear heavy with 15" , I have tested a 16" that also balance up perfect I think !
It took a couple of tanks to break in but now it got plenty of power and speed for it's size !!

Sounds like that saw is running a bit to rich.

Yeah, you'd think, but choking it got it to fire again. Dunno, don't really care, not my saw. I'm sure it was a fluke thing. I really have nothing against husky, I hope it didn't sound like I was trashing on them.

That must of been a heck of a deal on the 441!

Over here, the 357xp usually cost more than the MS441, and way more than the MS361.......

Chainsaw pricing on different markets are pretty weird......:bang: :bang:

You asked for it, but the only thing I want to say right now, is that the 357xp has outboard clutch, while the MS361 has an inboard one, and a very "clean" area under the clutch cover.

It makes the 357xp a bit less versatile, imo.:)

That bothers some people, and not others.........

I wouldn't mind having a 357xp, if I could keep my MS361 also......

....

The Stihl hp is bhp, and equals 4.5 hp/3.3 kW - the 357xp is 3.2 kW.
Not that the difference matters much.......:biggrinbounce2:

Over here, the 361 is 3.4 kW/4.6 hp (different cylinder and muffler).

More important (to some) is that the 12.1 lbs for the 357 is pretty far from the truth.......:bang:

Sorry, I wasn't planning to post this, but felt that I had to anyway, after reading the quoted post.

Im very happy with my 357.I am not an everyday user, but I am the type where if it is not 100%reliable it is going bye bye. With an18''bar and Stihl RS you will not be disapointed.Handles it all for me upto 20''.With slight muffler mod it cuts quite well.Still breaking in at 5 tanks though.:biggrinbounce2:

I have a 361 and my old man has a 357xp. Cutting times are pretty close (the 361 is usaually a hair faster) but the 357 is more comfortable to use and definetly less vibes.

I've only run about 5 tanks of fuel through my 357Xp, but I'm really loving it more and more as I use it. Its got DAMN good power for a 57cc motor. I love the Purr of those screaming high rpm's.
Its buy far my favorite saw of all.
