Just got my 394xp from Brad, waiting for a 36" bar, 3/8 .058 chain combo to arrive from Ohio, bar was $80, chain $32 for Carlton semi chisel, what kind of performance increase do you think the 8 pin sprocket would make? According to the IPL 7 pin is all that the 394 came with?

Go with a 32" 3/8 with an 8 tooth. A 394 is pretty much the same class as a 066/660. The 3/8 vs .404 chain breaking myth has always baffled me, I have been running 3/8 for 15 years.
Like Brad said use good gas, your highest octane pump gas will work just fine. I build and run high compression saws all the time and have never had any issues with saws over 200psi with just 50:1 mixed 91 octane.
Good find BTW, I am getting ready to build a 395 for a guy right now. May have to put it up against my 390 when done.

Yeah I thought you were hoppin up a 395.

I think my new 395 came today, there was a UPS box in the hallway this afternoon when I left for work...

muffler mod question

MM, what is the outside diameter for the pipes on those mufflers?

The chain speed will increase approximately 10%. Give the saw is pushing some serious psi. wou will notice the increased performance with faster cutting times.

Pay attention to raker (depth gauge) measurements!

Great saws, You did very well.
I had seen the same ad but can't
remember where. 210 psi is high watch
what you use for fuel. That thing should
Rip.
Good luck, Lets see a video.

Av gas for sure its all I use, or a 50/50 combination of "sports mix" (3/4 AV LL 100 and 1/4 tolulene) and premium the saws love it and were only talking a couple gallons so worth every penny, must cost like 1 cent per minute used more my saws are worth it.
