I'm considering buying tree climbing training videos to be used as part of my own training. I've been to the ISA site to read the descriptions of their video offerings. They list two different sets that I'm interested in but one is more than twice the cost of the other. The ArborMaster Training Video Series I (#V1523) retails for $150 and the Basic Training for Tree Climbers (#V1526) retails for $320. I'm wondering if any of you have any knowledge (first-hand or otherwise), or opinions about which would best. $320 is alot of money, but I don't want to buy one set only to learn later that I really needed to get the other set after all. What say you? I appreciate any info you may have.
Thank you,
Roger

I have the "Climbing Techniques", it's called set 23 in Sherrills catalog.
It`s a very good set to learn basic climbing skills if you've had no prior training.

If you're an ISA member you get a nice discount on the videos. One way of off setting the dues.

Basic Training is more complete and a better value.

The Art and Science of Practical Rigging, ASPR'n, should be the next purchase. Pete Donzelli wrote the script and most of the book. A really excellent trainging series. [I might be a little biased though. I spent a week in Atlanta being a Best Boy for Sharon Lilly when the bulk of the video was shot. One day I got to climb and do some video in the tree. About ten seconds of my shot of Sean Gere made it into the final cut.]

Have you thought about buying the videos with another company? Softens the blow to the pocket book.

Tom
